i keep smiling at this. And its even true
maybe someone should mail Sonic Foundry and tell it.
Or should we just keep it in case we ever get trouble with them?
(i have a legal windows.. But, just in case.)

That doesn't mean they don't own a licence for the product.
As long as you own a licence to use a product it doesn't matter how you came about to obtain the software.
That is the flaw of licenced software.
You only purchace a licence to use it !

That might be so, but regardless, every copy of Windows XP now has wav files produced from a hacked version of SoundForge. How embarrassing! That has to have some repercussions... I bet Deepz0ne is loving life right about now...
Here is the article on Slashdot:

Microsoft wrote the Name of the illegal person in the SoundFiles itself

I think it's more likely that the people the brought the sound off of initally was the company that priated it, seams more likely to me.. now I'm not one to stick up for windows but, it's possiable.

@Swan: its not legal. Since the crack seemed to put a note in the edited file, it could seem like it has changed the original exe of the editor, wich is strictly illegal no matter if you have a license or not!

Everyone's guessing unless the idiot who created the file comes forward with the alleged pirated app - only then will we know the truth.
But frankly - who cares.
Who ever said the guys at MS where angels anyway.

note: i didnt say anthing about if it was true or not, i just said that your conclusion about its legal if you have a license. And that is NOT correct
