PureVision vendor

I just thought I'd take the plunge and buy PureVision.... after all it's only $25 .... or so I thought !

I entered my country and hit ok, and found to my amazement... that regnet, who is the vendor... wants nearly $5 VAT !?

Now, I might not be correct.... but this is my understanding....

To charge VAT you must be VAT registered in the UK...... to be VAT registered you must have earnings of over £58,000 ...... etc.....

So why is a Canadian software company ( Reelmedia ) selling through a US company ( RegNet ) charging British Tax when neither of them are registered in the UK ?

Unless RegNet have registered in the UK just to charge VAT.... ?!

Is that Legal ?

Paul, I'm not trying to slate your company, I just think this is wrong!

But I'm quite happy to be put right, if I'm wrong :)

P.S Can I buy this any other way? I use Paypal a lot and have found most online suppliers accept it ?!

:)

Hi dontmailme,

Just to get things straight, I don't charge a VAT tax in the price listed nor do I collect this tax.
I can't vouch for RegNet but as far as I know, it is the UK government that forces the collection of this tax by such processing companies. Other payment services I have used out of the US are also obligated to collect this tax for the UK government.
For more acurate information, you would be best to ask RegNet directly instead of posting here.

Regardless, If you would have emailed me directly, I would gladly say sending a bank draft or money order directly and leave out the middle-man. :)

latest international laws enforce companies to charge vat to all their customers, unless allowed otherwise

you may consider relocating yourself to the carribean, neatly avoiding vat...

I assumed that you didn't get the VAT....... which was the main reason I stopped to think ;)

I think this might be a grey area as I've ordered stuff from all over without paying VAT........., maybe I've been lucky and the companies I bought from should be charging VAT !

Anyway..... Interesting thing here is that as the code is electronic..... and I'm guessing they e-mail you....... you could just tick US and keep your head down !

:D
