OPEN FILE - SECURITY WARNING on XP SP2

If i try the animated gadget demo:
viewtopic.php?t=12012

I get a security warning about the publisher being unrecognised, but if I compile the source to that demo I get no such warning?

So the questions are why are UPX compressed programs getting this warning and why are my programs (and those written by others) showing up as having a valid digital signature?

A upx-compressed programm is uncompressed in memory and then the programm simulate a normal exe-start. Virus and trojaner use the same technology, so the new windows warns you.

Have you got the latest version of UPX (v1.25) ? It apparently fixes some
security issues: http://upx.sourceforge.net

As for Micro$oft and the whole digital signature debate, see the discussion here:

Perhaps M$ has got something against UPX now?

MS will prob. be going into the exe compression business... wiping out the competition first with security warnings! ;)
