This board.

Great people (most with a great sense of humour), tremendous talent and skills.

PB is very good. However there are heaps of other inexpensive and free programming languages out there, some of them very good indeed. Without this site and it's ambience I think I might have gone another way.

props to you all.

Sure that the forum is a large part of the interests the language gives.

I guess that no book would contain as much code, FAQs and humour.

How much Gigs of information are stored there ?

This board is good, but there are many languages out there with good strong communities.

The best thing about PB is that it is technically amazing. Sure, at first it seems like just another small time basic compiler. It isn't. It is a work of genius, and the genius is in its simplicity.

Fred has done an amazing job at keeping the design of PB clean. Other languages add features upon features until it all comes so incredibly complicated.

With Purebasic it is all so simple. It seems to me that there is nothing that can't be done after just half a days digging. Stuff that seems really complicated, stuff would you wouldn't even dream of doing in any other language is simple and accessible in PB.

Using the windows API. This used to be one of my nightmares. I hated dealing with the API because of all the declarations calls and trying to decipher windows documentation. With PB it is so easy it almost makes me laugh.

Debug the generated ASM. Commented file created by the compiler is clear and well presented. Even though I the last time I used an assembler was with a Z80 I could still do it.

Create Purelibraries and link them. So simple. I've done it in C++ and Eiffel so far.

Since using PB I have found so many boundaries and barriers fall done. Stuff I once considered beyond my grasp I now take for granted.

The last frontier now is COM. I spent a couple of days on that and got so far. Axend has helped me further. I'm confident that by next spring I'll be using PB to develop COM servers without problems.

Hi, i agree totally with GedB, but i added another feature: multi-plataform,
PB run under 3 diferent systems, (soon will be 4), and made it one of the very few languages of high level multiplataform. Since i bought PB, i'm more happy with PB every day...

The difference between PB and other basic language, is that PB makes VERY small, STAND-ALONE programs.

Yes, I must say this forum is a great pleace to meet PB-coders, get help (not only with PureBasic!), have fun, ...

And, of course, people here do have a great sense of humour
Recently, a building worker fell down from a 20 meters high scaffolding, but he had luck: He remained hanging with the eye on a nail.
The difference between PB and other languages is, that it is suitable for nearly everything. It can make reliable business apps as well as fast 3D-games. And it continously improves and doesn't stop.

@BalrogSoft: What, a fourth OS will be added to PB? What OS will that be?

One of the things I like most about PB is how quickly updates and bugfixes are sorted out.
Some companies seem to keep a distance between themselves and their customers.. things like not replying to emails, or being secretive about any future plans, or "that bug is fixed in our £500 updated version" etc.. I don`t get that with PB, it all feels like one big happy family to me.
Glad I chose PB, kept me quiet on many a cold winters night..
Big thanks to Fred and the crew.
