With the Linux and Windows versions now in beta at 3.91, does that mean that an OS X beta is next?

Being the optimist that I am ...

Fred's post stated that it would be a 3.91 beta, which I assume means it will have the 3.91 feature set...
I guess we'll find out! Fred, any hints?

if i am not mistaken, arent OS and linux really similar at the core? so wouldnt it be reletively smooth to make the transitions?

On the surface it would initially appear so, unfortunately OS X and the PB-supported versions of Linux utilize different processors and as most of PB is written in assembler, it's pretty much a complete rewrite for Fred to support OS X. Not to mention the completely different GUI APIs, etc...

Shannara: Why when I read all your posts I feel something negative in them ?
USCode: First, lets get these 2 beta goes gold before having an OS X 3.91 alpha

. As MacOS X is mainly a linux, it will be based on the Linux commandset for the first releases, which means than the Linux and MacOS X should be 1:1. This also means than the better the Linux version, the better the MacOS X will be.

Nope - Linux version first please!
Nobody wants Bill's spyware anymore (and pay for new versions
and the spy tools every few years)... we are moving all to Linux now.
After improving Linux and doing MacOS, an AMD64-Linux version is needed
to move forward and not stay here in the past.
(and PB becomes OpenSource, btw

)

See you back next year.
Better do windows first, so when everybody has got the linux dabble-bug out of their systems they have something good to fall back on.

i think it would be better to finish off the 3D command set in the windows version first imo

many people come to check it out (especially DBPro people) then leave when they see its very limited.

After finding out things are quite different here then the norm, it takes a very long time to get used to......
