Dungeon Master Clone *with source now*

I'm finishing the graphic engine for my Dungeon Master and i would like you people to give me your opinions and speed tests!
It's all cross-platform, and i wrote my own 2D transparent bitmap routines.
It used 2D drawing commands, so don't expect super speed...
The download is at
http://cosmos.oninetspeed.pt/rui_carval ... master.zip and it's about 710kb
Please use the arrow keys or wasd keys to navigate the world (the buttons don't work yet)
Thanks in advance!

Looks pretty but runs like a stoned snail. Takes approximately 1 second per move to update the window.
Wasn't overly happy with the tiny window size either. Would definately prefer fullscreen.
I was a major Black Crypt fan back in the Amiga days, unfortunately I missed Dungeon Master.
Sys specs for the record:
Dual AthlonMP 1800+
768MB ®ECC DDR
ATI Radeon 9600 256MB

I concur. It's painfully slow. And I'm running it on an Athlon64 and Radeo9800XT.

Ok... Ok...
I've dropped my transparent bitmap routine and reworked the code to work in full screen mode and using sprite commands...
Better download it again

Looks promising.
Finish it and I will once again hunt living trees and fire breathing dragons.

Woah, didn't know Wiz-Type 3D RPGs looked so good with realistic textures. I'd love to play a game like this.
great work:)!

Well it definately runs better now, it more or less runs as fast as one would expect it too.
However, it has lost some of its original charm...I think maybe that its the choice of texture for floor and ceiling tiles.
Just an idea or two: It would be really cool to see a game in this genre make use of some 'advanced' techniques graphic-wise. I would love to see precalculated shadows being cast from walls etc. I only say this because photo realistic textures look a little strange when all other 'realistic' effects are absent. Things start to look very much like wallpaper
Anyway I think maybe I'm being a little picky with what is obviously very much a WIP so I'll stop dribbling now
If you achieve anything near the quality of Black Crypt then sign me up for a copy 'cause I really love this genre.

Er... Nice, but when I try to quit with escape key nothing happens. Then I try alt+tab: nothing respond any more. I have to restart system manualy
