i just bought a 120gb hard drive.
im running 120gb/5 partitions with a 60gb drive with single partition.
All 6 partitions are NTFS.
my XP Pro was on the C:\ of the 120gb (10gb partition)
i defragged my drive and then restarted and my windows was locking up.
my hard drive light stayed on.
after about 3hrs of playing and testing i install XP on the single 60gb drive.. everythin works.
i can still move files from drive to drive.. so it can't be that broken.
C:\ will not scandisk
C:\ will not format
but i can move data around all drives
any ideas?

OK, I thought maybe it was a similar problem I had with Hitachi/IBM drives. They are crap and nobody should be using them. But since your drives are not H/IBM it's probably a different problem. I can only suggest you find out exactly why scandisk won't run. What happens when you try to run it? Forget about formatting until you are absolutely sure your drive is not on it's way out. Sorry I cannot be more help. Have you checked Maxtors web site for FAQ's or problem reports?
