FYI, that -was- from the Idigicon/Guildhall days.
I don't know the full story, but there is a reason why Mark dumped Idigicon, they were selling his product after their license had run out, and after Mark had made it clear that they were not allowed too.

Not sure what the Idigicon/BlitzResearch incident is.

This was some time back, so things are a bit fuzzy. I bought from somebody called guilder$hall or something similar (would need to dig up the docs to find actual details).

I do remember that at the time the main forum site, run by a 3rd pary, went belly up or at least went away because it was carrying too much expense. That site seemed to have some importance in the whole admin process.

I decided it was all a little "two-bit" and went away myself.

Anyhows, not important now. PB does what I want, and a bit more besides.

@Inner:

I appreciate your deep felt concern about my future as a programmer and your touchy feally sort of sensitive advice about not closing my C++ books cause Fred is gonna die soon.....NOT!

Come on, I've written several commercial apps using C++ and I do understand the limits of Purebasic and C++ and how very different they are, most in these forums you are communicating in do.

As some little touchy feely advice of my own, you will find some of the most intelligent and capable programmers on this planet across cultural lines frequenting these Purebasic forums, don't assume because "Pure" has "basic" on the end that its users are mainly at the level of basic as programmers.

I would just like to say that I have never encountered any negative comments on PureBASIC from either blitzbasic.com or blitzcoder.com

In fact I learned of Purebasic from the blitz community and bought PB based solely on recommendations from fellow Blitzers. Many people participate in both communities, so I simply can't recognize that the 2 communities should somehow be 'antagonistic' towards each other...

Me too! i don't think we are at each others throats but i do think there is a friendly competition between the two, which i think is healthy :wink:

I owned Blitz Basic and dropped it after various support e-mails were ignored .....

Blitz is really for games in my view, whereas Pure is great for Apps and can do some games as well as if not better than blitz......

Once Fred has sorted the 3d support I'm sure Pure will be king ;)
