Hello - short story

after a break I came back to the forums and started reading ... now half an hour later I realise it's extrem, I have to bend forward to a distance of about 35 cm from the screen, I have to screw up my eyes to manage the contrast of the tiny blue font on the blue background.

It's straining me so much that I can't contentrate on the meanings. I have to reread it again and again and demanding myself to pay attention to the concernments.
The moment I switch to writing a posting I immediately relax my back and eyes as it is suddenly tiny black colored font on white background. Switching back to view the posting I instinctly want to leave straight away 'cos the exertion starts the very moment - but there is no way out - here I have to stay if I want to keep in contact with you.

I'm desperately asking for a change - please supply the forums with any other simple arachic style - there are enough ready alternatives - only give me and some other people the chance to escape this blue on blue horror. [can't even really figure it out, it might be slight-gray on blue as well]

exhausted ~ Vera

is there any way for me to turn off the mouse-over highliting, and the "tool tips" for lack of a name, it distracts the hell out of me.

For some reason my last post in http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... 12&t=39017
seems to have lost it's indentation of the code, but it's only during display, copying or editing it shows the spaces are there,
anyone got a clue what's going on?

Dear Num3
out of your choice I could live with these: Beta7Silver / Getaway+Darkblue / proFormell

Again I had a look through all the designs closely and made up the following list of those I find suitable.

all avas left sited

LIGHT-background
- 610nm (orange title, black on gray, quiet and good to realize/read contents, normal font-size) ++
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=59
- envision (similar to actual style, but seemingly better color dividing, small but black on white font) +
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=205
- Getaway (also blueish, but good devided, black normal font-size) +
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=41
- Minimal (very archaic reduced, blue main background, quick to overview, small but black font on white ground)
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=95
- sliced (red topics & symboloutlining, good category-deviding, blackstriped mainbackground, small but black font on gray) 1/2+
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=195
- xandgrey ( (near to Minimal) quit modest, no gutters, darkgray bold topics, neat & clear, small but black font on white) 1/2+
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=155

DARK-background
- CA Black (colorfull of black, good to make out, normal font-size) 1/2+
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=385
- hermes (red/blue/white on black, still quick to see and differentiable, white normal font-size )
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=46

MAYBEs
- polyethylene (black on gray, large icons, good bold topics, black normal font-size )
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=185
- ProNight (quick easy overview, good bold topics, black normal font-size on medium gray)
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=26
- Serenety (light silver background, blue&red topics, black normal font-size)
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=35
- slagg (cremecolor on dark-brown, dignified appearence, but comfortably quiet) 1/2+
http://www.phpbb.com/styles/demo/3.0/?style_id=355

I'm not sure which one I would favour the most yet, the + signed ones come close.

Addendum to subsilver2:
there are only two things about subsilver2 breaking my back: the font-size and it's color.
I think both could easibly be changed so that it could show up about the same as it did all the time before.

regards ~ Vera

I just installed subsilverPlus and made the default, as it does look more modern.

Very nice! Thanks!

EDIT: Could you please install it for the German (and possibly the French) forum as well?

This definitively is a big gain - thanks for that [thumbUPsmilie]
it eases the unlogged mode enormously and stopps the irritation by the right-sighted user-infos.

unfortunatly it doesn't solve the font-problem yet

Dear Fred,

I solved the font-size-display for the moment :)

Reconsidering what is predetermined (?) in the style.css:
font-size: 62.5%; /* This sets the default font size to be equivalent to 10px */

I increased the default browser font setting up to 16px, so that the forum displays in 10px alright. Now this really is a big relief. :D
And testing several bookmarked pages it didn't bother their appearence, so it might just be a final solution. Still I find this font-size method (62%) questionable.

cheers ~ Vera

ps : please don't hesitate to update the german forum with your new standard-style 8)
