Because my former company used to have the maintenance contract for exxon. WORM drives... LD6100 / LS6100 units...Rook.... do all Texans try to blow smoke up everyone's butt???
"1 gallon of gasoline uses roughly 1TBSP of oil"
Sometimes those drives woudl get stuck and not read (old tech.) and we would bring them back into the office to extract the disks. Always watched by an exxon employee who set up a video camera to record the entire thing. They were paranoid we would look at the disks. It was mostly accounting backups. As soon as the disk was clear, they would grab the disk and the camera and leave.
There was a mistake. A disk was left in a machine.
That disk costed oil usage, and exxon chemical added usage to the oil process and transportation costs. The most interesting file there was called PERGALLON.xls
This was verified by two of my wifes friends that work for BP once I told them what I saw.
And I have a college friend that is International Accounts Manager for BP as well... If you read the whole postings... he also said they use way more oil to make diesel and though it is distilled less, and the additives are less... it still takes 41% more oil to make a gallon of diesel.
Diesel should cost 4 times what it does and gas should cost 1/2 as much. But then the truckers would riot and not deliver food to the cities. And even more canadians would enter the US illegally and come south seeking warmth and college teaching jobs!!!
