I knew you would like Talkyptica.. It sounds nice in my opinion and it isn't taken!
I think it is like a modern word.. probably describing the will to communication ^_^

PS: Don't ask me how I got Talkyptica ^_^

I created a new layout! It includes a custom buttons class (simple, image or image + text - look up at the status) that took very long to make. It can be used to create good looking buttons, any size or style. I will send the code now to lexvictory.

With a random theme I have here:

With the Crystal theme :)

Hello!

Do I understand this topic right, that the PB comunity wants its own messenger? And this messenger should be similar to ICQ, AIM, etc.? How far is the entire progress?

I wonder, why Irene and Inf0Byt3 & others are making their own clients. In the end, should there be only 1 messenger? Or can everybody make his/her own messenger and we invent a protocol which all messenger can obey to?
Personally, I would appreciate it, if there is a protocol that our messengers can share (just like the HTTP-protocol).

I'm interested in this topic (hence I trace it).

Hi And51,

Nope, we're not making our own clients. Lexvictory is the head of this project and I was assigned the mission to make the Windows UI. It's a community driven open-source project, so anybody can give us a helping hand. I have some free time these days and I try to work as much as I can.

About the protocols, I have no idea which they really are, but MSN is included as much as I've heared.

idk... it doesnt sound too good to me in english...

and with the gui, can you do it without winapi?
i also dont get the idea of the address book tab...
and i dont know about others, but i dont really like icons below the display name bit...
it should also have a text field below the display name for msn's personal message, and other protocol's status field (jabber for instance; the extended status bit)
and the contact list's star icon doesnt show the best under windows 2000
sorry for the criticism, other than that it looks good

I see what you mean, but we're shooting in the dark here. I can't make anything good until you decide exactly what options you need. I can make the UI in a thousand styles, but none will be ok until I know exactly what you have in mind.

I'll make the mods then.

[Edit]
The icons are from the Kde-look.org website, I didn't make them, but they're GPL.

@DoubleDutch
Thanks.

@Lexvictory
I cannot do it without WinAPI, it's subclassing. This doesn't mean that the Linux UI must necessarily have that status buttons subclassed as well. You could use a combobox and have the same results. I just added that class to make it look better, but you can wipe it off the code.

Oh, and about the name... Feel free to name it as you want. I don't really care about the name.

Ah ok, now I understand. SO this is not going to be a pure PureMessenger, but a messenger, that can also copy with other networks (MSN, Jabber, etc.)?

i like the red one the best :)

and i know about stabbing the GUI in the dark... :lol:
tbh, we just need something simple, something that shows contacts, shows (msn) display name, personal message/extended status, display pic, and can handle multiple accounts (whether multiple accounts is handled like pidgin/gaim, or whether we have it in separate contact list tabs)

and with the name, if someone can come up with one that is pure gold, and worth the hassle of changing everything over (sf.net, website url, etc) then it can change, otherwise i think it should be what it is.
