thats a really interesting step! I look forward to the final.
If SpiderBasic
2.00 has WebGL support and works like the OGRE-Binding,
i would even say now: If you like PB, you will love SB.
*thumbs up*

Congratulation , my feeling is that SpiderBasic is the correct product at the correct time , since too many people have a tablet or ipad except the old men like me who naturally suffer from vision problems.
some examples works with Opera 11.64 (old version) but not on Chrome 12.0.742.122 (old version).
i hope webGL also to be implemented and its complexities will be wrapped in an easier to use syntax.
my opinion is that the forever license are not correct since usually the user consumes the little he have paid by continuously visiting the pure and spider basic forums so he consumes from the web bandwidth which are paid eventually by the products company.
the forums accumulating costs appears when there are too many people especially when SpiderBasic begins to attract more and more people.
best wishes

I'm touched by the fact KCC wanted to share with us the desktop wallpaper he's going to use this year.

Hi Fred
I am just curious whether you considered Google's native client ability in the browser. The portable version runs in browsers on any OS Chrome runs in so I am wondering what the advantages are to compiling to Javascript vs a portable native client.
Thanks,
Simon

I'm extremely happy with PB and have no intention of dumping it. And it's not hypocritical to express what I believe are some valid concerns. On the contrarary, being honest about our concerns can only strengthen the language.
Yes, there have been lots of powerful and useful features added to version 5 of PB. But in my view, much of it was carelessly implemented and was rushed into production - for example, the Module feature. Also, long standing features, such as the Canvas Gadget focus event, suddenly stopped working.
These are all symptoms of a team that's trying to implement too much, without giving the job its full attention. And this is what makes me nervous about PB, not the introduction of a new product. I don't want to see PB descend into becoming a buggy product that can't be relied upon to produce stable software for our customers.

Thats the way PB is developed. But if you see your bugs,
you have to see all other major bugs ... that maybe doesn't
bother you, but other people. If all have to wait until everything
is fixed, there will never be a new feature. The team is just to
small for that.
It is sad, but thats the PB live cycle. It was never be like they don't
care ... they just have to make priorities to get the work done.
The good news: It is much better as in the past now. Because Fred is
working full-time on PB, everything goes much faster ... so if SB helps
to stay self-employed, there is nothing to worry ... it is a big step
forward to a much more stable and bug free PB.
The time will come when the "DONE-posts" will rush through the forum.

Mhh ok, this explains the less updates for PureBasic. I think it’s sad, that you use your, how it looks, already less time, for such a thing. I just hope PureBasic doesn’t neglect or dumped. -.-
In opposite to the most people here I am not happy about this.

Any software user, be it developer or end user, will tell you that a missing feature is better than a buggy feature. As long as software is reliable there will always be ways of working around missing features. But if software is buggy it's of no use to anyone.
Writing buggy software, and then taking extra time to find and fix the bugs, always takes far longer than doing it right the first time. There's really no reason why PB can't have lots of new features and be bug free, no matter how many people are on the development team.

It had to happen sooner or later .
I myself have thought about this product 2 years ago. I love PB and is programmed on it since 2005. But today when I already know well PHP / JS / HTML / CSS - I do not see much point in Spider for yourself.
And I do not really understand what his target audience . It is clear that programmers PB not milion , and the tens of thousands who have hardly will particularly interested in web applications.
At the same time youth hardly will be interested in BASIC , today it even in school does not teach . All who are programmed to PB today is the old generation . 25-40 years.
So that I have serious doubts about the future Spider.
As for PB, it is one of the most stable products I worked with all these years , I have no reason to complain. Today it is a mature product . It is a pity of course that PB missed game niche in 2004-2005 , when it was flourishing casual games on the PC and the flourishing of different 2D engines.
