PBDev is good, very good, Edwin did a great job. However, it is a bit out-of-date, small changes have been made in recent PB releases, and one big change in the intro of the Canvas gadget. From my point of view, PBDev is producing too much code and is perhaps a bit bias towards Windows OS. That is only my view of course.
The built-in PB Designer is up to date with the latest gadgets (controls) and produces lean, easy to follow code - perhaps you could get your head around that one first before committing to something that might be on the way to Jurassic? Hopefully Edwin has the time to update PBDev but I think you will find the PB Designer to be more than adequate.
You might like to take a look at this too:
