MAN listen, the question was wether or not the forums has changed. On the few occations i need help, i get help, thats very good. Especially from people like yourself but you know that. Thats not what i talk about.srod wrote: It's not a question of whether the coding replies are inspiring to one person or not, the fact is that there is always a great deal of help available in these forums.
Yeah that might be a part of it. The things just aren't as big and catchy as the things that was brought up back then.Foz wrote:That's because you've ascended to "godlike" coding level. Of course everything doesn't inspire you when everything and everyone is below you
what i mean is something like this:
I still love looking at and using Rings old self modifying code. Just that little piece of good code made me write a larger library of procedures for anticracking, and posting crackme's various places. I had 10's of hours of reading assembly codes and using debuggers and diassemblers, and reading various documents, and not least coding purebasic and writing small assembly libraries with pelle's c / masm.
This happened a few years ago.
I just don't find things that could do such a thing to me.
Man i could sit for hours at night working on that, even though i had to attend school!
And later on talking long out in the night about heuristic engines that a genious around here was working on. We talked for hours in a row about that tech stuff, running speed tests. One night we ported a few string search algorithms to assembly with little knowledge, and Oh my we got it working! We improved the speed of the algorithm many times. Thats a fucking victory. You know, i still use that old code this day today at an application at the company.
It was just amazing.. Do you understand now what it is i talk about?
