What happened to those compressed air powered cars I saw on Nat Geo? If they brought them over, I would buy one. Not because I'm the greenest person in the world - I just like to be as self-sufficient as possible.

I follow this air car from Guy Négre for almost 10 years now.
Couple of months ago, a company in Belgium was in the news that had acquired the license to produce them for the Belgian market.
Hope to buy one in 2009.....

Check out the IPCC FAQ from their 2007 report (= RTFM) if you doubt global warming, then post here and tell us burning fuel and carrying on as
we do doesn't matter, and I will kindly tell you that you will end up with a cake in your face at the end of the day.

Or that you should simply try and get an education, or shut up, or whatever suits you best.

I got no idea why people doubt it. Of course there are MORE than just our usage of burning fuel..

You've got to compress the air somehow and compressed air is not a very inefficient way of storing energy, the energy density of petrol is over ten times that of compressed air. If you're going to generate electricity from a power station, transfer it across the national grid (inefficient), then run a compressor to compress the air (which usually have an efficiency of <=20%) it doesn't seem like a very green option at all, apart from the fact it's easier to monitor pollution at one power plant rather than x number of cars.

Maybe turbines could be designed that compress the air directly rather than generate electricity but then you're talking about a lot of infrastructure.

As for his claim you could fill up in 3 minutes, compressing the air that fast would generate a LOT of heat. Then as the car runs and the air decompresses you have the opposite problem - it's going to get extremely cold.

it far enough we use paper to whipe our asses, we should not additionally use it to clean our noses.

for centuries women used cloth to swaddle their babies.
since the 20st century we use f*king paper and ruin our forest even faster.

anyhow, why do we use paper from trees, why don't we grow enough hemp?

wood is made for making shelves to cut vegetables on, you should use wood, not plastics.

and there are thousands other problems, like sugar from beets,
displacement of development aid, not enough FairTrade etc, etc...

but no, we must care about CO²! it's so mofo more urgent!

...it's a hoax, since we just do not know if it is a significant factor at all.

Clearly you have never talked to member of the US Christian Right. If the Earth is only 6000 years old then one can hardly believe in ice ages or geological evidence of warming from the distant past.

i must admit it, i buy normal books instead of e-books. But thats a very GOOD usage of the paper. What else do you want to wipe your nose in? Cokaine?

@the.weavster: That's what they brought up on the show... turbines that compress air. They also stated that you could "plug in" at home for around $3 US - about 100 miles of travel. The car has a built in compressor for this.

I would stick a solar panel on the car that way it can recharge when it's sunny!
