I personally prefer if the language evolve instead of getting a new VD. However from a marketing point PB might sell more copies if it had a really good VD. In the end it's really up to Fred though. I really prefer a happy Fred that continues to work on PB for all eternity than either a new VD or new functionality

I think the developers are doing the priorities correct i just wanted to give feedback on what i would do to get a VD... If none of us are telling that we really want VD then it's "always" going to lag behind.
A new coder could possible do the job if some off us prepaid for a future product.
But the coder should really know PB etc.

Personally I'd have no problem paying for a Visual Designer ...

1. Spend countless days before the computer, coding on the free VD...make no money at all...
2. Work on my business, make enough money to feed 3 kids, pay for the house, and even save some money to go on vacation every year....
3. Open source it

Open source, no way!
We saw what happened to the first PB IDE when it was open source.
Just start an open source project yourself if you think this is the solution.

Or write an own VD.
Seems to be some people here who will pay for it.

Sold as a blitz ide with minor modifications.

Okay, my guess was a million miles away!
That is pretty shoddy behaviour; not really in the open-source spirit!

I thought that was the idea of open source? Did they violate the license?
There are other licenses that prevent third party commercial gain while still opening the source code.

Ofcourse they violated the license.
That's the reason the new IDE and VD where closed source again.

Sold as a blitz ide with minor modifications.
And Purebasic is/was a 100% clone of BlitzBasic from Amiga.
Don't say no, userlibs, commands and all the rest say thats so and ist fact.

But the complete concept is pinched. See Syntax, Inline ASM, UserLibrarys concept (without file extension - lol)... all pinched from Amiga BlitzBasic.

How depth and dirty would you go?
I think that is not what the thread should be.
