Did a "dummy order" and it still says "Scandinavia shipping free",
so I won't pay an extra buck for the shipping!!

Hmmm... According to the Swedish site idg.se is Medison's shipping partner "EMEA Services" leaving the negotiations with Medison.

Well, hope they can find a new one... I want my Celebrity!
Some statistics about their sites...

i doubt you will get shipping free. After what i've read at 2CO it is no longer valid
http://www.2checkout.com/community/supp ... 214&page=3
actually i am quite sure you won't get anything at all, but still
Do like i did! I bought some hardware for around 1800$ yesterday

(quadcore cpu, 4gigs of ram and so on

)
can't wait to install 64bit vista on this thing (its not completely assembled yes, i am at work at my dads lab atm)

Vista x64 is indeed worth the effort and will run almost everything! I've been running it for month now and haven't looked back even once! I find it both more responsive and more stable than the x86 version.
As for the link that Kale posted, it's just another one of those "look, I'm cool bashing Microsoft/Vista/x64/whatever" but really have no clue. Here are my thoughts on his whining:
1: Today most every hardware does indeed have x64 drivers. And those that don't, often aren't supported at all anymore, hence one should consider getting something else anyway.
2: Wrong! Yes, drivers have to be digitally signed to work. However they do not need to be WHQL by Microsoft to work. So the author of that page simply doesn't know what he is talking about, surprise surprise.. A digital signature is obtained from a trusted publisher, for example Thawte.
3: Correct, 32 bit drivers doesn't work. Did anyone expect them to?
4: 16 bits software is not supported in x64. No one should be using any of them anymore. We cannot, and do not want to, have endless backward compatibility!
5: More and more programs are getting an x64 build. And x86 programs run just as fast under x64 as they do under x86 OS.
As for his conclusion.. If no one ever pushed for anything, nothing would ever happen. As far as I'm concerned, he is more than welcome to run DOS 1.0 if he wants.. But for gods sake stop whining about things you don't understand!

Hi!
As Maw say, most of the manifacturers today has x64 drivers. Before i purchased, i checked every piece of hardware i was buying and the things i had, and indeed they all have vista 64bit drivers!
However they do not need to be WHQL by Microsoft to work.
I havent even tried vista 64bit yet, but i still knew
3: Correct, 32 bit drivers doesn't work. Did anyone expect them to?
I did NOT, but why would i use them when i have 64bit drivers anyway...
4: 16 bits software is not supported in x64. No one should be using any of them anymore. We cannot, and do not want to, have endless backward compatibility!
I think i'll survive. However i will install XP on a virtual machine. Should run fine with this machine!
I DID spend some time checking if the music production software would work, and it will. (this is the main reason why i go with 4 cores and 4gigs of ram)
"look, I'm cool bashing Microsoft/Vista/x64/whatever" but really have no clue
This is not unusual behaviour of someone who can't afford it eh?

Now i am even more eager to try it

I think i will purchase a Raptor (wd, 10 000 rpm) drive for the system today.
This is the case i bought:
ONLY at one point did i lack on what i purchased. I bought a geforce 8600 instead of the 8800 series, but really i am not much of a player. If i feel like it, i will purchase a bigger card; but for what i do the 8600 should do just fine (especially with the rest of the system specs..)
SO; even though kale is bashing me i still look forward to going 64bit

Thanks for the input, Maw! nice to know it should run just fine.

I know

But i don't like the

smiley so i rumbled the words a little hehe
However i spent quite some time checking various forums and other things to find out if the software i use is running under vista 64bit. And people reported they did, so i am looking forward to it

Also see Maw; he has been using it for some time and only found it to be better! Currently; without installing; the only bad thing is the price. But i bought the OEM version for around 220-230$, so compared to the hardware its no big deal

Does a 64bit processor and OS actually run any faster than its 32bit counterparts? Any speed tests online?

You will definately get faster loading times with one of those!

Very nice case! I have only heard good things about it!

Well, if you don't play alot, then an 8800 would indeed be a little overkill! Personally I can hardly wait for nVidias next generation top model

I'm sure you're gonna be very happy with it

Lets have a look at how it works. The 64bit processors has larger registers (2 * 32bit obvious). Calculations with huge numbers would therefore be much faster.
Now this is not the only thing. When we get up to systems as mine with 4 gigs of ram (and perhaps more in the future) you HAVE to go 64bit - 32bit simply does not support that amount.
More and more games support 64bit systems, like half life 2.
I get more and more reports by people that find vista MORE stable than their xp, too.
I've had Vista 64 for a while now, no problems. Games as old as Baldurs Gate work fine (to my great joy).
But all in all: 64Bit systems CAN process twice as much data on one time than 32bit. Only if the apps support it of course..

Yeah i heard about signifficant performance differences..

the 8800 is too dated hehe. The 8600 costed much much less, and i can change it for a new nvidia when they get to the new series, IF i am not satisfyed, however i think i will be. I play a little hl2 and so on, and that game runs fine on my old system
Another thing is the developer perspective. If you program in C# this doesnt matter, but for purebasic i will have to watch out hehe

Money was withdrawn from his account 28. August. No laptop received yet. But guess what? He got a free t-shirt!

"I purchased a laptop from Medison and all I got was this t-shirt"
It seems like some t-shirt company is promoting themselves.
