Yup, DR (Digital River) has a universal subscription to MSDN that developers are given access to. Had fun browsing all the "stuff" that was available, but haven't bothered to download anything from it. Nothing in particular I want....

Here's two more "Only in America" true stories:

This guy is pissed off at somebody and decides to mail a letter bomb to him. He didn't figure the weight and postage right so it was returned to him for insufficient postage. He openned it.....

A prison inmate is pissed off at the judge that convicted him so he decided to make a letter bomb and mails it to the judge. Fortunately for the judge the letter bomb didn't work, unfortunately for the inmate he put his name and return address on it.... (I have my doubts about the validity of this story, I have a brother who's in prison now and I now that all inmate mail incoming and outgoing is ispected by the prison staff)

Who would put their own return address on a letter bomb.

There must be some REAL idiots out there.

There were at least two - but seeing as the first guy opened his when it was returned perhaps only one left now.

I think this true story can fit here ...

What happened some time ago...
A software supplier advertised about a booklet for a specific software lacking written documentation.
I was interested so,I ordered and as there were 2 shipping rates :
a very slow and cheap one by normal post
and a super fast by some shipping specialist.
I think that those super fast are too expensive(except in real need for spare parts),considering that the cost usually matches or even is sometimes higher than the price of the book or the part.

While ordering the cheap rate(ofcourse) ,
I stupidely added : "These shipping prices are a ripoff",more as a joke than a statement.

Payed with a debit card and a bit later received an E_mail complaining about my remark
saying that it was not"very nice"or in the same meaning .
I thought that it was funny as I did not mean any harm by it, lets say it was badly phrased,
but as a test I replied that it was not meant for them but seing the reaction ..Did I hit a nerve ??

That really hit home !!
My E mail came back to me as a SPAM...Incidently :Do they get kick-backs ????
Some firms do not even give any alternative(I used to get electronics components)

Meaning to sort it out I tried twice more with Same result
Needless to say I never got the booklet (although payed for)

Although I still use the software I have cut all ties with this setup.
I stil receive E-mails advertising their EXPENSIVE products.->Direct to the bin --__ ...

Note : Some Software firms even charge for the downloading of their software

Yup! $xx.xx for physical shipment and $6.95 (or something very close) for electronic delivery.
