:D

But .. fortunately .. it is not a one night stand.

These guys do look good and will probably make the final.

Will it be against Spain? Germany? Against Ecuador? England? Maybe Brazil?

Possibly, but it will PROBABLY be against AUSTRALIA - And with no Maradona (and the hand of God) to help them, poor beggers. :D

Germany -v- Ecuador: What sort of game was that?

Germany looked brilliant, but there's no real way to measure because Ecuador looked like, well, they looked like they had popped down to the pub and asked a few fans to fill in.

What was Ecuador's coach doing? Giving some of the squad a cap? A baptism of fire? Did Ecuador care?

However Germany did look very very good.

But germany played not even half es good as in the last match I think, though they got 3 times as many goals.

Ecuador played the reserves so they could rest their main players for the next round.

They're obviously not scared of playing England, and who would be?

England are not contenders and as bad as things seem now we now they'll be even worse when Sven steps aside and we have McClaren instead. What a muppet he is.

Just watched the Portuguese "B" team play Mexico, and win. Wow, Portugal can play some classy football, and can be impressive. There were some good moments there.

Also some heavy-duty rough play in that game, and IMO at least one red card was escaped for a deliberate passing kick in the face. (And Australia has been called rough! These guys were playing the man, not the ball).

Anyhow, anyone thinking Portugal might get into final 8 or even 4?

There are going to be some "mini final"s, in the final 8, I think. Germany -v- Argentina and Spain -v- Brazil. Whoever wins the first is in the finals. Whoever wins the second will probably be in the finals. I think Spain can do it.

Hehe. :D

I'm not expert but perhaps you should have a chat with the team, Num3. They don't appear to like the corner kicks against them at all.

Heya Barney, are you ready for this?!

This is a knock-out. Two physically strong teams, fit and hard, technically competent, quite similar in styles, fairly evenly matched, playing for the win. Heart is going to be a big part of this.

Set no limits :)

I have the beers chilling and will down one with you after the match, win or lose.

Whoever wins this will blow Italy away. :) (So we'll see Australia blow Italy away. )

I have watched alot of matches in this world cup and I think international football is a lower standard than club football.

And it's so gay, where did this nonsense about getting a booking for showing your studs come from?

Oops!!

If i understand, some semi-final could be Argentina vs Brazil?

And the other one? Because if Argentina-Brazil-Germany will fight for one place in the final. Who will play for the other? England-Italy... who else?

Hey Dare, are you watching it? ;)

I am and I am in awe of Croatia's "earth shattering" game. Instead of continuing with the attacks after the goal they started playing something, which barely resembles proper soccer play. Unfortunately I must admit Australia is a better team to tackle Italy in the next match...

We'll down the beers anyway... :)

Well... our guys scored but it was a rather lucky goal and it was assisted by Aussie goalkeeper. I still think Australia is better team at this championship.

Went for a walk to work off some nervous energy :) and lo, here in our quiet neighbourhood there are people celebrating on the streets. One or two here, one there, etc, this is amazing.

Also watched the first half of Japan -v- Brazil. I know the final score is 4:1 but man, congratulations to Japan on that first half! Scored the only goal against Brazil in this round, and held them until the very end of the half. Well done!

Now that the round is over, I'll admit it - the game I worried about most, even before the first game of the round, was the Croatian game.

Man, if Croatia hadn't settled for their lead each time, it may have been different. Croatia needs to adjust "settle for" thinking. Settle for a draw -v- Japan, settle for a 1 goal lead -v- Australia, equaled settled for missing out.

Now Italy. We can win that one.
