I have the 64bit Pro ISO I'll probably replace 8.1 and 7 installs.

FYI: The 'N images are without media software from what I've read.

Samuel wrote:Quick question for you guys. Have any of you had problems running Purebasic on windows 10? I haven't installed windows 10 yet so I can't test it.

If I am remembering correctly there were very few issues with Purebasic when windows 8 first came out, and I'm hoping that trend continues with 10.
Hi, I have few days trying W10, but at the moment work fine (for me).
I try PB 5.31 x86 and x64, Vlan, and other apps like chrome, firefox, opera, thunderbird, Oracle VM, any games and all work fluid.
At the moment, I have no crash system, no 'guru meditation' ;-).
All my own old softwares work good.
Every body talk bad about win10 but not is too bad, have many things, not new, but needle like many desktops, more and better voices and more languages (Spanish included ALELUYAAA!!!). Speech recognition, maps from Bing is availlable and really good.
A new 3D tool is included in all packages, easy and funny.
Helper and DirectX12 is better, is true win10 try to send a lot informatión but you can disable this options, or can be enabled and use Cortana the new helper, is really usefull, make many diferent tasks, find, follow your post, remenber meets, and more..
I pass from win7 to win10, i dont know but may be a little more speedy.
Valoration global, 8.9/10.
Ok, 9/10 for give us this free ;-) :D
Like us, or not.. progress is progress and finally work with windows 10, like us, or not.. because all PC mount this in OEM version.

If some body know how create a miniature gadget for start menu in windows 10 with PB, please tell us. Thanks :D

Which thing is silly, M$ or the world?

Anyone with a shred of common sense should be paranoid when it comes to black box spyware.
I was wondering "Why would M$ distribute spyware as a part of their OS?".
Certainly businesses would not stand for the possibility of their proprietary information leaking.

Windows 10 comes with built-in spyware. If your work requires confidentiality, DO NOT INSTALL. by OllieGarkey 555 Comments

Friends of mine in government, in law offices, or in doctors offices often have a work/personal email that comes with a disclaimer. "This communication is confidential," etc, and is intended only for the recipient. It's a bit of legalese, but it's necessary, especially for people who work in law or medicine, who have to comply with some pretty strict confidentiality laws and agreements.

If you have any job or work which requires some kind of legally or professionally-mandated confidentiality, whether it's Doctor-Patient or Attourney-Client, you should not use Windows 10, even on your home machine.

That's because by installing Windows 10, you're agreeing to an End User License Agreement which gives Microsoft permission to read your emails, record your location and activities, log your browsing history and what programs and applications you run, and share these with "trusted" sources. You're also agreeing that Microsoft can turn over the content of those emails along with data about you mined from your computer, to any trusted partner, or to any law enforcement agency based on a "good faith" determination by Microsoft that the content is needed by that agency.

There is no way for an ordinary user to disable these settings. Unless you're familiar with group policy settings, using an elevated command prompt, and editing the computer's registry, there is simply no way to disable Microsoft's data mining system. If you don't have a "Pro" version, you won't even have access to gpedit, and so there will no way for you to fully disable the pre-installed spyware.

Then I learned that »»»»»» the spyware will be disabled in the (expensive) Enterprise Edition ««««««.

That figures.
You'll just need to pay M$ extra to respect your privacy.
Linux looks better and better day by day.

I very much doubt that the Enterprise edition will truely respect privacy - the spyware will probably be more cunning, less detectable and the license agreement much more complicated but basically say the same thing......

...btw, very surprised if you find Chrome is running OK. For many Users it is currently not possible to access their gmail via Chrome on Win10. There are issues too with Dropbox, and some apps that auto-check for updates. So, MS have released (unleashed?) Win10 a little bit too early.

I mean, certain tools and games were always included for 20+ years...!?
That's because Windows is no longer a product but a now a service. As much to where Microsoft is giving away legitimate Windows 10 to pirates for free.

They need to hit their "Windows 10 on 1 billion devices" quota where they hope to capitalize on the Windows Store (picture Android w/ Google Play).

And any change in the settings you do can be reversed by W10 automatic updates. Basically they can run / install anything without your consent.

@Julian: Here's a shot of the prompt I got when I tried to create a new user. As you can see, there's no way to skip it.

Just showing it for reference to my post. I am back on Win 7 so it's a non-issue now.

@Dude
It's not very obvious (probably as intended) but click on "No Account? Create one!" and there you should be able to skip it. I didn't test it yet but this is how it was done with Windows 8.

Probably, but as you said, it's not obvious and clicking it looks like you want to create one. That's why I didn't, and never saw any later option to opt-out. Darn Microsoft and their poor presentation.

I think it's on purpose. Microsoft wants to trick the users.

I upgraded 2 W8.1 Pc's. I hadn't created a Microsoft account with either when I set up W8 and I wasn't prompted for setting up an account during the upgrade to W10.

When I upgraded my W7 PC to W10, once again, no existing Microsoft account and no prompt to set one up during the upgrade.

I didn't have the option of not signing up to Google with my Android tablet...

What we need now, from someone better at it than me, is a utility to check and report on the security/privacy settings with an easy to follow layout. I went through the ones I could find but I am sure to have missed something.

I think there are too many who've lost sight of what a computer operating system is supposed to do.

Although I'm running UBUNTU at the moment, there are still many apps that I use which run best on WinXP.

Many of the W8.1 PCs that were marketed allowed a downgrade(?) to Win7.
If you have that option TassyJim, save yourself the security hassles and take it.
Good luck.
