i see this remark in a topic on this board:
"Yes, you can install both. In the latest version you can even compile 32-bit and 64-bit exe files from the same IDE, just select the right compiler in the compiler options window."

Is it a switch?
Would it be suitable is PBDev set's a switch for the compiler without the need of having alternative code?
A switch is easy for me if you like but not a code rewrite.

Likely the easiest solution is a switch.

I just heard that you need to call a different compiler.
There is no switch as it seems(?)

This is solvable by installing a 2nd pbdev and maintain the ini file in the pbdev folder.
I don't have a 64 bit computer to test on.

This is a great tool, but IIRC, you can't use it for commercial projects, so that does limit it a bit. Still a very good tool, though.

There are two other tools like this (one free and one paid), they are likely still under development.

Can't blame Edwin though as there probably wasn't enough interest and the PB community has definitely shrunk a bit over the past few years. Edwin is also dropping development of the PowerB designer, too. So it is not like he is just picking the PureB one to stop working on.

The reason for not allowing commercial projects is that one may make claims about PBDev.
I do not condone using it officially in commercially projects and because there will never be a patch you'll may run into a dead end at some point.
If you actually use it in commercial projects, i don't really care and won't press charges but don't expect any support on this tool.

PBDev is very old and PwrDev for the other compiler went so far the looks of PBDev is totally off

Anyway i have just tested it briefly on PureBasic 5 and it still works, that's nice for some of you.
Have fun with it, the HB website will be gone within a year or less.

I'd say it's the difference between now and years back. It feels the same for me too, maybe because some of the top posters have stopped posting regularly but it definitely doesn't feel as active as it did in 2003.

I suspect this perception is true for most software forums.

As a product matures there are fewer reasons for programmers to be active participants. Eventually, most of the traffic is generated by a select few, with the occasional newbie jumping in to ask questions.

Most programmers, once they become familiar with software, don't have any great need to post to a forum. Instead, they visit the forum to keep up with events or to download new versions of the software.

I'm not a big poster on the forum but a regular viewer though.
As a forum matures it becomes quite a useful resource of tips, code, etc. Perhaps less questions are asked as it's history grows, meaning - searching first negates the need to post as often.
Also PB hasn't had a rush of new features over the past few years to stimulate discussions/ideas either !
