I don't know where you get that idea, there was no personal attack in that message. Or do you only read what you want to read just to suit your own wishes, for example:
UserOfPure wrote:Tipperton wrote:you're one of those people who are so tight and cheap that you squeak when you walk.
Wow, talk about hyprocrisy!
That is totally wrong and unfair! You intentionally took those words completely out of context just so you could say I personally attacked you, in their proper context as I had originally posted them there is no personal attack at all!
UserOfPure wrote:But why come here and try to shame others (your words!) into doing the same? As srod said, others may not be able to afford it. I can't.
That's not what you said in your post, you said, and I quote:
UserOfPure wrote:users like myself who don't wish to donate?
which doesn't mean can't it means you specifically choose not to. There is a big difference between not being able to and choosing not to.
On top of that maw also said that his urging people to donate didn't include those who can't afford it, or is that just another one of those phrases you chose to ignore because it would make your message meaningless?
If you really can't afford to donate, I can accept that because I've been there too. It's not fun, but except for the very few fortunate ones, everybody experiences those problems at some time in their lives.

Euh, would it be an issue if I would officially ignore this specific topic?
Gents, let's not go crazy, I mean... euh... overenthousiastic

If someone likes to donate, he / she / it can, and if someone doesn't, he / she / it doesn't have to. Everything beyound that is water under the bridge. Muddy waters under a dark bridge. At night. Under a new moon. At the end of times. You got the picture...

Totally agreed. But let's not try to shame others into it, is all I was saying. I'm over it now anyway.

All I did, and have done before, is trying to get people to donate!
I think you should stop doing this. I don't donate money to my car manufacturer or whatever, and the guys behind
this language seems to think that free upgrades forever is the way to go, so why bother?
I certainly do not

These types of threads rear their ugly heads from time to time, i've seen them often over the years. They are mainly started by newcomers to the language who feel the need to tell others that they have donated in a way trying to shame others to do so. This is yet another childish example of how this once mighty forum has descended into banality! I really am ashamed of how this mighty place of learning has turned into the utter detritus it is today!
When you buy a single PureBasic license you are fully entitled to free updates to the language and packaged tools, requiring no additional financial obligation for the rest of your life!
It really is that simple. If you want to donate to Fred and Team, please do so, I have on a few occasions, but if you do please don't post on these forums trying to get others to follow suit, you make yourself look like some kind of megalomaniac prefect!
Grow Up!

I see nothing wrong with these forums. They still are a great source of knowledge from people like srod, freak, Sparkie, etc. Kale, I see no code from you or Trond (although he's a good bugtracker anyway) only complaints and sometimes insults. Maybe that's why people stopped posting these days.

Alright i did decide not to post here at all but now i have to.

Well, there is still things going on in the general and coding sections of which i quickly read through every day. Barely any time to help someone but its a good place to get ideas and sometimes i trip over things i've struggled with myself. Again i did promise that once i start at university i'll have more time to go to those sections
But whats going on? Dunno. Sometimes people come up with ideas and ask for help with it, thats lovely. But genious things like Rings self modifying code or such, implementing other funky ideas for whatever you'd like..
But the only place which has really fallen off is the offtopic due to enourmous moderation or people just not wanting to be serious at all. I remember all those discussions we had about physics and so on (thanks to geniuses like psychophanta. I guess you even peaked in yourself back then, kale. And all the others). And personal opinions. But these days, you can't even speak about the american election without things being deleted or users risking being banned. Even before some jerk comes in an blows it all up.
BYO, you joined in 2007. Have you been a member before? If not, then i don't think you should talk about if the forum is fine nowadays comparing to old days. They're sortof boring now. Before people would get on here every single day to check up, discuss, develop ideas. I just don't see a lot of that going on. Of course this could be a hint that i should start myself. Get on, put up some ideas and let people share and comment them. Just too busy these days. You know, i program all day at work mostly and then i get back to the studio. And so forth - not much time for the innovative hobby programming where you get crazy ideas in the middle of the night. Thats what we miss. Those middle-of-the-night ideas that just seem to come out of no where. Be it on or off topic. But not anymore, not allowed.
Oh well, banning me and sensoring the offtopic worked like they wanted to on me

I see no real difference in these forums; they are still a great place to get help when needed. I use other forums besides these and nowhere, and I mean absolutely nowhere else comes close to these forums in terms of the speed with which the majority of posts exact a reply - even if that said reply is from Fangbeast threatenning to bludgeon me to death with a rancid kipper!
Sure there's the odd argument and occasional metaphorical punch-up, but that's life, at least no one is going to pull a knife on you around here, which is more than can be said if you look at someone the wrong way around the streets where I live! The only guarantee of safety around here is to walk around carrying a bigger knife...... and then the idiot pulls a meat cleaver from out of his boxer shorts...
At the moment I code (and drink coffee) around 8 hours a day and I like to pop into the off-topic section on occasion by way of taking a break. Of course, now that Brice seems to have left, the quality (and frequency!) of the arguments has dropped significantly, which is a shame as I always enjoyed his exchanges. I mean there is one guy you just could not win an argument against - more fool those who even tried!
I just think it a shame if some people cannot look beyond the off-topic section and see the 'bigger picture' where these forums are concerned. If this section is not the place for a good old fashioned argument then, well I guess you're all welcome round my place for a mass argument! Just make sure you bring some beer.... and a knife of course!

(Sorry sparks, there's no room around here to park the bat-mobile, you'll just have to sit this one out! Beside's, the damn kids would only steal your hubcaps anyhow! No point bringing the bat-copter as Prince William hogs the skies around here with his personal chinnock helicopter as he darts to the supermarket and back!)
There's off-topic for you. Think I should get back to that coffee before I start an argument with Prince William! Uhm, I wonder if he hangs around these forums?

you do realize who you are inviting here?

well uh.. i did. Yeah the speed is amazing. I just don't find the content as inspiring as it was some years ago. Dunno, maybe just me.
I see no real difference in these forums

I mean from a coding perspective. You want help, you get help.
What happens in the off-topic forums is, in my opinion, neither here or there.

No, not at all.
It's not a question of whether the coding replies are inspiring to one person or not, the fact is that there is always a great deal of help available in these forums.

That's because you've ascended to "godlike" coding level. Of course everything doesn't inspire you when everything and everyone is below you

Your saying these forums havn't changed? Call me a liar then. You remember how it used to be, don't kid yourself.
