A persons opinion matters to me the exact amount that they are paying me.
I've never taken a cent from anyone here and don't plan to. Yet most of my posts contain code, in some cases a lot of it. You don't seem to understand how things are done here - we trade ideas and coding help freely, all for the advancement of ourselves as programmers and to see PureBasic prosper. If it's cash you're looking for, please look elsewhere as I don't believe you'll fit in too well here.

Well, it's all beyond me! Unless I missed something, all of this is because someone had the 'cheek' to ask you to format your code when posting; insert a couple of spaces perhaps?

There must be more, no one throws a paddy over such a minor thing of no consequence whatsoever!
I removed them for one reason. To show you your own hyprocicy.
I knew that the second I removed the most of the few decent tips that were added in the last week, that the very first thing that you would do is complain.
And it's not about ego! :roll:

@Dr_Wildrick

Mate, could you format the text of your missive above? It is difficult to read.

@Fluid.

Go for it.

:cry:

edit:
oh wait a minute, he's english!!
we trade ideas and coding help freely, all for the advancement of ourselves as programmers
If i had to spend a cent for all the posts who have helped me with my coding i've read here (written by you and many others) i'd be in trouble.

Its a part of my job. I search the forum a few times, learn the stuff i needed to learn and then write a few offtopic posts in return (oh well), and then goes back to coding until i hit the next problem.

For an example of the synergy here, see this thread:

http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtopic.php?t=27740

Here I started with an idea I knew was on the right track but there was much room for improvement. After several contributions by eesau, nico, flype, Michael Vogel and Xombie the code was honed, streamlined and faster than a two-dollar whore. Before you toss out rash characterizations of the work we do here, you might want to consult this and many other threads where many heads made a very fine result. I couldn't have gotten there without this forum and those friends to help me. Never in a thousand years.

P.S. I didn't see anything in your posts that couldn't be looked up in an algorithm text.

and look at what i posted here:

i know its not science but i did spend a little time with it, but i had fun. Thats the only place i posted it though as far as i remember, didn't put it in the tips trick section as you kindly pointed out only FEW usefull things got posted there. And i didn't want to end up in the unusefull group, so better not post at all right?

and you know what made it worth the hazzle? Localmotions reply
Thank you TheFool!!!!!!!! They work very well. In fact, they might be just what i need to learn to dither/quantize 24/32 BPP down to 8BPP in order to finish the GIF encoder.

btw: that thread is gold for people into images :)
DLF also had cool stuff there.

And people say i don't contribute :evil:
they're just too stupid to find it.

@Fluid

BTW, why don't you read my first post again and count how many times I named you. Strange as it may seem to one of your stature (and ego, which is challenging Dr_Wildrick's :) ATMo), not everything is about you.

If you want a head-to-head stoush though, I'm game.

Here, I'll hold your coat whilst you get started. :P :twisted:

(srod, gimme back my handbag, I might need it. Actually, no, keep it. I don't think I will).

End@Fluid

The points made about the synergy and dynamic of the forum are good.

Thanks, TheFool, that's excellent.

And one more (probably last) thing: We have several doctorates on this forum, MrMat and localmotion34 to name just two. You might notice that the title "Dr" doesn't appear in their nicks and if you didn't get to know these guys, you'd never know of their formidable achievements. Modesty is a virtue and most true achievers have it.

Dr_Wildrick wrote:One poster - I don't remember which one - It does not matter - said he expected me to post a "goodbye cruel world" post - that was funny. I will give him that - that made me laugh - i was laughing that his ego was so big that he actually though he made me cry leave or something - thats just tooooo funny! but a good laugh is a good laugh even if he made it at his own expense.
That would be me! :lol:

And you did! even funnier :lol:

Hey Doc... :P

Calm down! We are an open community. We attempt to tolerate everyone, but rarely stroke egos simply for the sake of stroking ego. We say thank you when we get help, and we try to tell people when they are appreciated.

Some more... some less... some never. But thats ok.

Gracias por tu ideas! Thanks.

But relax.
