@Kale: I agree with you. It's a shame that it's given such a low priority.
Not everyone is a 3D game programmer, and 64bit isn't the majority of
PCs worldwide yet, not by a long shot. But everyone who codes would
love a stable drag-and-drop form designer. It should be a higher priority,
but it's not my language so I can't twist anyone's arm. I can only wait,
and the team knows I'm not going anywhere because PureBasic is too
good. :) They've got me by the balls, like a drug seller with a junkie.

I agree, that the Visual Designer needs more attention. We do not create games using PB and a good working Visual Designer is essential to be able to fastly create a new GUI or some test environments.

Please, PB team, re-focus on the Visual Designer :!:

I vote for an improved subsystem DirectX9 and a better Ogre3D support.
Why:
We have some third party solutions for a GUI designer tool. So the native VD can wait at the moment.

Well, i have 2 options:
1. Spend countless days before the computer, coding on the free VD...make no money at all...
2. Work on my business, make enough money to feed 3 kids, pay for the house, and even save some money to go on vacation every year....

Is this a choice?

coding on the free VD
Why does something of this size and scope need to be free? I don't think anyone should have a problem with paying, say 50% of PureBasic's price for a professional quality VD produced by the team. Lifetime free updates, etc., same license as the compiler, I think you'd sell a lot of them. If you have time for a part-time job that is.

No choice; I vote for option 1!

I agree with netty - I see no reason why you cannot charge extra for the VD. I am happy to support you guys in any way I can and if placing the designer on a commercial footing means that its future is secure then I am all for it. :)

Why does it have to be free? Why is Fred or Timo not involved?

Nah, I only ever got as far as St Kilda, the Melbourne equivalent. But I had an illegitimate (oops, I meant legitimate) reason for being there!!

Nah those women only sell IDE's and knocked off copies of VS. I'll try Charing Cross later today! :)

If VD was payware i would buy it even if the price is equal or higher than PB as long as it work on both widdows and linux.

While I support the idea of charging money for the VD I don't think this will change the current situation. It will not generate enough income for Berico to quit his job and it will not in any way free up time for Fred or Timo. Only way out would be another coder taking over the project.

I personally prefer if the language evolve instead of getting a new VD. However from a marketing point PB might sell more copies if it had a really good VD. In the end it's really up to Fred though. I really prefer a happy Fred that continues to work on PB for all eternity than either a new VD or new functionality

We have plans to get back to the VD. We are just focusing on other big areas at the moment. (The 64bit versions and OSX x86)
