Good thing you saved pureAV though!
The encrypting seems ok, (remember we don't need anything really really strong. The most important thing is to disguise it from the cracker!), and if we could make it ehm "polymorphic" and so on, and let every protected exe have another kind of encryption, other stuff added, some stuff based on random numbers and so on, we could end up with something that couldn't easily be decrypted (if done well) using a "generic decrypter".

Try changing the jumper setting from master/slave to cable select. I've had a few drives go wrong at what looks like power failure, but its actually this part of the hdd controller board. On changing to cable select they managed to startup and I was able to get the info off them.
I wouldn't trust them for normal use after that though.

I don't want to appear stupid or anything, and the operation of this seems pretty straight forward, but someone describe to me how i would know its actually working?
(I used the help example with the original post and notepad opened up - is that correct? )
