8) You are correct, Shannara. I'm sticking with PureBasic, though.

Dont worry, I have the pro iBasic license as well, but that was due to Paul, partly :) Now I moved on since it's now a dead language :(

Yeah Joske, that's me. 3 days after registering on the forum and despite 4 unaswered email, STILL no activation to allow me to post. What a joke. How should I approach my credit card company in regard to a refund?
If I get it, I can spend it on PureBasic

Let me wonder how much code from IBasicPro went into his new compiler (IDE, libs etc.)
The IDE is the same at least, even most of the icons.

Here some clarification on that matter from Paul himself.
(found on Aurora's Forum)
Lots of "talk"
« on: February 02, 2006, 03:17:02 PM »

Seems to be a lot of talk of our site on another forum.

Lets get some things straight:

#1) Aurora was started by Vikki and myself because she just finished a C++ class and inspired me to write a C like language. The idea was conceived last Septemeber/October. We wanted a language that had classes, better flow control, etc.

#2) The IDE for both Aurora and IBasic are based on a third party MFC library called Objective Tools (Stingray software). Which is why they look similar. But are completely different internally. The Aurora IDE uses Scintilla as an editor component, something that is not avaialble in IBasic

#3) The unfinished paks...I was not allowed to finish them. Period. I don't even have access to the 3D beta forum over there, and haven't had access since last year. All of the code for the paks belongs to Tom anyway. It would have been nice if it turned out differently but it didn't.

#4) I didn't "abandon" IBasic. I sold the rights to a new owner who has his own ideas of what needed to be done. And it didn't include me providing forum support, finishing the paks, or making any updates to the language. Even if I were to make an update I have no way of uploading it to the site, providing support for the changes, etc.

#5) I may have sold IBasic but I never sold my "right" to continue programming. Aurora is not a competitor for any BASIC like language.

#6) The Ionicwind.com domain name was registered on: 23-october-2006. Check whois for yourself. The frontpage of the site under "welcome" says "june 12th 2004" since that is the date that Mambo released the CMS, not the date I posted the message. Which I just changed to todays date.

Paul.
It seems that, after reading the above, it was a clean cut IBasic -> Aurora.

Moved on to what? Aurora?

As far as I can see it's more C than Basic but has already classes build in, creates asm for nasm etc. :P

He needs money again, seems the 'room of those who care' have become a bit smaller since
the last time though..

http://www.ionicwind.com/forums/index.p ... 344.0.html

So just scoot over and donate your pocket-money for this week if you care.. I don't.

The idea of seeing this brought up here like this is kind of ummmm... well
it leaves me with a bad taste. Maybe it's the way it's being talked about
here.

In fact, why even bring it up here on the PB forum? Paul didn't bring it up
here and obviously didn't have any intention to bring it up here.

It's like someone wants to create drama here.

My advice, let it go, and if you don't like Paul and IBasic or EBasic, then
stop visiting his site and forum. Then you won't feel the need to find
something to pick on him about.

I did post something but then decided I should read what he (Paul) had posted, after reading Paul's openning message, I deleted my post because it was totally wrong. (Lesson learned)

His message doesn't even have anything to do with Ionic Wind needing money or even Paul needing it for himself.

It's about Paul wanting to help out his brother, but not having the money to help him the way he wanted to, so he is looking for donations so he can help his brother.

I see nothing wrong with that.

Nor do I see anything wrong with mentioning it here except that the way it was posted here gave the impression that Paul needed money and was now trying to sell Ionic Wind.

Maybe the moderators should simply close this topic to put an end to it...
