This is not freeware, which is a shame.

It is very cool. I uninstalled Norton AV on all my machines and just use the free edition of AVAST! and it hasn't failed me yet. They do a great job keeping the virus definition file updated. I was also suprised to see such a good product be free.

By the way I should have gave a better link to the free edition in my eariler posting.

Info on the free version:http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Download the free version here:http://www.avast.com/eng/down_home.html

EssentialPIM STANDARD is free; however, EssentialPIM PRO is not. THe free standard version is still good enough though.

My mistake -- I went to the home page and only saw the big red BUY button
and no immediate references to any free version. Wonder how many other
people they've turned away by foolishly hiding the free version like that...
If I weren't for you, Fangbeast, I'd never give the free version a try, which
in turn would mean I'd probably never pay for the pro version. Tsk, tsk.

Now my jaws ache from laughing. I was not trying to sell you the software PB..One salesperson in these forums is enough if you know who I mean (evil grin).

But, I've been using their free version for 6 months since I found it on BetaNews and they say they have no intention of stopping the free version. Then I joined the beta testers of the pro version and we are supposedly having that one for free because we tested it. Not bad, i've seen better and worse.

That also have a portable version for running on a usb stick.

I'm a beta tester too, and the Pro version is abit faster then the free version, less memory leaks I suppose. I use the portable version on my USB for all my "top secret" stuff hehehe. Nah, just contact info and stuff like that, but it's good to have important stuff seperate, I have an act on re-installing Windows and forgetting to backup my important files. So this is a blessing to me. I also have a registered version of WinOrganizer that I bought about a year and ahalf ago, good program, but it seems to suck memory like I drink milkshake and it tends to crash when I shutdown the PC when it's running in the tray.

KeePass Password Safe
What is KeePass?
Today you need to remember many passwords. You need a password for the Windows network logon, your e-mail account, your homepage's ftp password, online passwords (like CodeProject member account), etc. etc. etc. The list is endless. Also, you should use different passwords for each account. Because if you use only one password everywhere and someone gets this password you have a problem... A serious problem. The thief would have access to your e-mail account, homepage, etc. Unimaginable.

KeePass is a free/open-source password manager or safe which helps you to manage your passwords in a secure way. You can put all your passwords in one database, which is locked with one master key or a key-disk. So you only have to remember one single master password or insert the key-disk to unlock the whole database. The databases are encrypted using the best and most secure encryption algorithms currently known (AES and Twofish). For more information, see the features page.
