You don't get it, Kaeru. If you visit a site from another link and instantly see that you don't want the entire page loaded (as is quite common these days), it'd be good to hit Stop and have everything actually stop. Why else is the Stop button there? Currently you need to wait for all flash objects (etc) to load first, which is time-consuming and wastes bandwidth. It's not a case of visiting a page just to stop everything. :roll:

I really forgot to say that some of those banners, ads, or whatever you wanna call, not only consume CPU resources, but also constantly consume net resources.

Myself, I use ZoneAlarm Pro ver 8... which allows me to block everything so I use those settings as my default. After I visit a site for the first time I will adjust my settings accordingly if I really want to let that site operate on my PC. A bit tedious, but extremely safe practice and great on preserving resources. Nothing runs unless I say so. I've found the best way to stop flash on subsequent visits is the "stop all internet activity" feature. Unfortunately the "original" ZoneAlarm Pro product is no longer available. They have a product they call ZoneAlarm Pro ver 9... but they stripped out all the controls so it is in reality a totally different product now.

I use AntiVir atm instead of AVG Free. After i reformatted i decided to go for AntiVir
So far so good, slight problem about it updates so incredibly slow for me :S

Save the zip to disk, then select "Manual update" in AntiVir and locate the zip file. Easy!

Now you're talking Virus Protection. In my last post I was answering to the question of a single button to stop all browser activity. The only way I know is a ''firewall'' to designed to monitor, control and block according to your settings.

Back to free ''antivirus''. If you ''depend'' on any anti-virus, free versions or not, you should also run ''ThreatFire" to fill in where ALL antivirus fails:

Hey GeoTrail... Off topic, but between you and me, I could not agree with you more. Or maybe I could actually agree more than you do. Please note, I did preface that comment with ''If you ''depend'' on any anti-virus...'' The true fact of the matter is (and here is where I may agree more than you) ... ALL ''ANTI-VIRUS'' is 100% SCAM !! ! ! ! ! ! ... none, absolutely none of them protects you from the latest most devious attacks. Same philosophy as the brainless victim of any physical crime. Trust in the police and you will be a victum. Train yourself, maintain your guard where appropriate, accept that you have no one to blame but yourself if you become compromised in any way, associate with people you know will cover your back (like purebasic forum members ), and you will never be a victim. Nothing more worthless than police ''after that fact'' (except for anti-virus software).

That is the reason I use ZoneAlarm Pro (obsolete ver 8 ) even today. Put up a wall, mind your business and forget about the police. ZA Pro is the only product I have found that places a wall around my virtual property in a way that allows me to genericly block ALL "website" tricksters, resource mongers, etc. -AND- provides a simple, easy-to-use, easily accessible one-stop gui control interface. Every ''new'' site I visit is blocked -- no mime, no java, no scripts, no banners, no ads, no animation, no cookies -- UNTIL I ok that site, and I have complete control on each of the forementioned controls for each site. (No I'm not trying to promote ZoneAlarm. Well i have never heard (see, I mean) that question in the web, so to me the originality of the question is mine
but well, i'd like to invite you to dinner to my home one day and try ZA Pro (ver 8 and prior) to perform that issue. Unfortunately you ar far from here, Spain, and it is no so easy.
So, i have to try it myself, but i don't believe it will really do that. But by the way, comodo does do it too?
