I disagree. With patience and hard work you will get better results and satisfaction that you didn't use AI slop.CDXbow wrote: Sat Jul 12, 2025 6:02 am If you are interested in 3D modelling you need to learn these tools.

Nice models ! Thanks for sharing !

No, I get much better satisfaction out of the machine doing it! I draw a picture, put it into the ai and hey presto, like magic, a model comes out, with it's texture. You can't beat that. I don't find the physical process of digital work very satisfying whereas making sculptural pieces such as scientific reconstructions, and painting is physically enjoyable and a bit therapeutic. It clutters up my house a bit, I have a 4m Great White and a 3m Sawfish filling my back room, digital work wins in that respect.
Even before ai most artists used prebuilt models as a base, using prebuilt rigging then animating them with premade animations.
One of the side effects of ai has been the drop in price of prebuilt models. I mentioned earlier in the post the chances of finding a rigged and working anomalocarid was low, well I was wrong, here is a Cambrian period model pack which includes an animated and rigged anomalacarid (amongst others) for a very modest $76 USD. https://www.turbosquid.com/3d-models/th ... ck-2342291
I do work with my friend Peter Trusler, whose is the grandfather of paleoart in Oz. We have had some ideas' for recreating very ancient environments such as the Ediarcaran, the Cambrian, the Devonian etc. With ai and model packs like the one above I think we can do it.
