(error in the media download tool)
Worked here. Got tired of waiting for the "Your computer is ready to activate" so used the media tool on my wife's laptop, made an iso, burned it and installed. No problems at all.
Once I found and downloaded the iso onto a bootable usb the upgrade went without a hitch, the error message came from the media tool.
I'm almost tempted to install it on my system.

Fairy muffs. I've been in the insider program since november last year and my personal opinion is that it's great. Now I have to persuade my daughter to do it as well. (what a ride!)
My main reason for her is that different versions of windows are notorious for network problems when speaking to each other in ms-eze..

As you can see I answered your question on another forum IdeasVacuum.
The second post contains my detailed reasoning.
Although it really belongs here, because this board's controllers seem so fearful of things political, I'd decided not to post it here directly (and have another thread get irrationally locked).

I tried Windows 10 and was disgusted that in order to create additional users, you are now forced to create an online Microsoft account for them! Went back to Windows 7 quick-smart due to that. Yep, it was enough to piss me off. That's the risk they take with free software: if somebody doesn't like something, they'll have no desire to stick with it because they didn't pay for it.

Windows 10 tip 9: Log in without a Microsoft account
With all that keylogging data headed to Microsoft's databases, you might want to try logging in without a Microsoft Account. While it may appear to be impossible to use a local account (which is to say, a user name that isn't a registered Microsoft Account, typically a Hotmail.com or live.com email address), in fact it's easy -- and the procedure is the same as it is in Windows 8/8.1.
You can add a new account in PC Settings (Start --> PC Settings --> Users and accounts --> Other users). If you're clever and know the trick when you first set up Windows 10, you can use the same approach. When the prompt comes up to enter a Microsoft Account, choose Create a New Account. Then at the bottom, click the link to Sign in without a Microsoft account (not recommended). Click Local Account -- Microsoft really wants you to link to a Microsoft account -- then fill in your Local account details and click Next, then Finish.
The downside to using a Local account? You won't be logged in to OneDrive, Mail, Metro Music, or any of the other online accoutrement.
I definitely was NOT given an option to create a local offline user at all. I looked hard and tried, but the "Next" button (or whatever it was) wasn't enabled at all at any time without valid Microsoft account info.

Windows 7 will be my last windows os. It is about freedom i guess, It seems everything ms does now is aimed to control you. No thanks.
I installed Linux Mint 17.2 and does everything i need with a much better ui.
