While searching for some information I stumbled onto a nice relief map shader. Which only took a short while to implement.
Here's a picture showing it.

You'll notice that it's very similar to parallax occlusion mapping. Bad news is the edges are a little more jagged, but good news is it has shadow support.
I plan on posting a tutorial on how to use this shader in the next day or two.
Personally, I think this is an excellent shader and I'm considering using this one over the parallax shader.
If you still want POM don't worry. I still plan on finishing it up. It just might take a while.
