That's the annoying thing about Megaupload, they delete the files quite quickly!

I'll try to post a new demo soon, I didn't have the time to add any new things as I've been quite busy, though I still have some ideas :)

Why not use a free webhosting service, they are much much better than those pesty upload services. :)

Hello,

Here's the demo (Mac/Windows) of the gadget:
http://dl.free.fr/getfile.pl?file=/8Ug67L5b

(sorry for the large font size on windows)

I didn't include the code editor demo as I want to fix some of the stuffs before.
I also plan to add image support, I already have something, but it's far from finished ! :D

I'm having fun with images, not heavily tested, but basically you can load any images into the text.
It doesn't work yet when Line wrap is enabled, as it requires a lot more work
Also you cannot resize it or select it with the mouse, not yet anyway!

(if you're wondering why there's a huge left and right margin on the image, I just took this board's top banner which includes these margins

Is the highlighted area a cursor-selection or a text with background color?
If the latter: Can you change the background color for a single word or several words instead for the whole line?

Yes / Yes
Cursor selection is of course possible though, not shown on the screenshot.
Any formatting is done on a character basis, so you can apply the background color for a single letter, word, or line, or whatever :)

Just curious how things have progressed with this gadget? It was mentioned in recent thread, so I am wondering if you finally got it to a state where you are doing commercial releases / licenses, and have most or all of the major features implemented.

I've done plenty of work on my Grid gadget, adding combo boxes and all.
I've also worked a little bit on this gadget too, working on a code editor, quite basic right now but with undo/redo feature, folding and intellisense.

As there was very low interest in both gadgets I've been developing I'm probably just going to use them in my projects and that's it :)

Well, I think that's a shame :(

I'm sure many people would appreciate it if you released them for use.. Even if its not "commercially viable" I don't think it would hurt to release them as donation-ware or something.. At the least others would get to benefit from it, and you might make a few dollars as an aside....

Still, even just releasing source code would probably help a lot of people.. Even if it was just an older "basic" framework version of getting the gadget(s) up and running. It would allow others to be able to come up with their own gadgets and potentially have other gadgets or code shared with the community in return as well...

Or maybe I am being too idealistic; its been known to happen.

How do you know that there is little interest?
I for example am interested as well. Though I was a little distracted when you've mentioned that they will be commercial because at this time - new release of CanvasGadget() - a lot of cool new gadgets were created/posted (with code) and I thought yours would be something of that kind... Nevertheless I'm still "interested"!

I meant very low interest in term of actual sales ;)

Polo,

Any chance of you changing your mind about selling this gadget? Could save me a lot of time and save "reinventing the wheel".

I'd be interested, too.
