Oh OSX can crash just as any other OS can. I had a Mac Mini PPC for years and it would OS Crash now and then. As well, apps would crash and burn too. Eventually the Mac Mini itself started going bad and I ended up cannibalizing it for parts. In fact, at school the other day the Mac the instructor was using crashed and he had to hard reboot the thing.c4s wrote:No viruses, so easy, good looking, more options, no crashes...

.Actually this are the main points in a pro / contra discussion about macs I discovered so far.
If any of you native English speakers have any suggestions for the above text, please let me know (via PM). Thanks!

The iPhone only had standard smart phone features (and low spec ones at that), it was the interface and styling that was supposedly innovative and revolutionary and they were actually just copied from the LG Prada.djes wrote:And the prada is only a phone, a nice phone, but a phone. Nothing comparable.
It's been a very long time since only 'technical geeks' used computers. Surely the power is more impressive than the dumbing down.djes wrote:Please! I'm not talking about ugly objects that works for technical geeks who knows exactly what is a jpeg or a wmv, three ways to launch the task manager
Is the HP Slate really uglier than the iPad? It's probably just the wrong logo.
Re: Check out the new Apple iPad!
Sure, it's why I urgently recommend you to exchange the logo, as you seems to give to this great importance! (I doubt any moron wouldn't see the trick, but you can try). For my own, I surely prefer that all devices haven't any logo and are as good as Apple products.the.weavster wrote:Is the HP Slate really uglier than the iPad? It's probably just the wrong logo.

Re: Check out the new Apple iPad!
I give it very little importance which is probably why Apple never makes my short list. Apple is way over-hyped and over-priced for me, plus when I've purchased something I don't expect the manufacturer to think they still have the right to dictate what I can do with it.djes wrote:Sure, it's why I urgently recommend you to exchange the logo, as you seems to give to this great importance!

Steve Jobs is still Steve Jobs, a class A number one jerk.
As far as I'm concerned he knows where he can stick the iPad!
As big an @$$ as he is I *know* it will fit!

Re: Check out the new Apple iPad!
Anyone have any example codes they can share with us that we can use to make programs for the Rock?

I have owned both and the iphone hasn't copied anything from the prada. Thank God!. After owning the prada i vowed never to own another touch screen phone as they are crap! ...or so i thought.the.weavster wrote:The iPhone only had standard smart phone features (and low spec ones at that), it was the interface and styling that was supposedly innovative and revolutionary and they were actually just copied from the LG Prada.
The iphone is honestly the best phone i have ever owned and it is definately because of the OS and sensitivity of the touch screen. It is just a joy to use. As for features, it demolishes all competition purely because the App store exists. To say it has limited features is just ignoring the fact that you have instant access to over 140,000 application to do almost anything. As of now the iphone is the most widely used smartphone in the world for business and personal use.
I honestly am not an apple fangurl but as soon as i held the iphone i immediately realised what the fuss was about. It is awesome. Just today at lunch, i checked my email, caught up on local news, checked the weather out, then watched live TV for half an hour while i ate my sandwich. I have my entire collection of music on it and 12 of my favourite films and still more than half of storage left. It is awesome.
I am definately buying an iPad, purely to read books on. If the iPhone is this good, the ipad will be a dream to read on.

Plus, i'm writing apps on both!!!
C provides the infinitely-abusable goto statement, and labels to branch to. Formally, the goto is never necessary, and in practice it is almost always easy to write code without it. We have not used goto in this book. -- K&R (2nd Ed.) : Page 65

Apple may have done a better job of implementing the interface but they still copied it from LG.Blood wrote:I have owned both and the iphone hasn't copied anything from the prada. Thank God!. Mmm, it's 'sensitive', it's 'a joy to use'... what exactly are you doing with it?Blood wrote:The iphone is honestly the best phone i have ever owned and it is definately because of the OS and sensitivity of the touch screen. It is just a joy to use.

I would mainly like to use mine to make phone calls, send/receive e-mails, take pictures of my kids when we're out and very occasionally to look up info from the internet - unfortunately it's not very good at any of the above.
And what's so special about the single-tasking OS?
The overwhelming majority of which are utterly worthless and of the others many wouldn't be necessary if using the browser were tolerable.Blood wrote:As for features, it demolishes all competition purely because the App store exists. Plus no app can overcome the deficiencies of the underlying hardware - the crap camera, the fixed battery (which discharges in minutes if you surf), no memory slot, etc...
In December 2008 the company I work for purchased 7 iPhone 3G, only 1 is still being used - the other 6 are now no more than paperweights. They are worthless for business, they are really just a toy and they're not as cool or as much fun as a DS.Blood wrote:As of now the iphone is the most widely used smartphone in the world for business and personal use.
Within a few hours of getting mine my heart had sunk and I started thinking of all the alternatives I might have had, one with a nice camera or one that had real keys for typing e-mails or one that could detect the network in a weak signal area or one I could carry a spare battery for or maybe even one that had Symbian or Android or Maemo that I could write apps/scripts for without getting f****d over by the manufacturer.Blood wrote:I honestly am not an apple fangurl but as soon as i held the iphone i immediately realised what the fuss was about.
