Demonio, I took the time to draw a PureMessenger icon, I hope you like it:
Image

I first drew it on a paper, which I then scanned and edited in The GIMP.. It still isn't my final artwork but I think I can make it a little bit smoother. When resized to a 32x32 or 48x48 icon it looks much better ^o^

I thought I might as well show you the 48x48 version of the icon, doesn't look so off-track 6_6...

Why not pink? :)

Pink is as good as any other colour.

On windows, when you make an attachment of an icon to a program on the desktop, you can pick the icon in the sequence (multiple icons within a single icon embedded into the exe) or point to a completely new icon thats not within the exe. So you could have 2 icons, one pink, one blue.

I think that letting girls have a pink icon would make the messenger more popular - with the amount of messenger type programs out there it will need all the help it can get. There is no real reason why (on install or in settings) that you could not allow different icon colours.

I don't know enough about linux or the mac to see if its possible to do the same on install there. What do you think?

sounds like a good idea, once we get the design finalised, we can do things like that

I'm sure most of you already know about http://www.famfamfam.com/ but just in case, theres a lot of free icons there which can be used for PureMessenger.

Here's a preview of one of their sets.

oh and here's an icon idea :)

I know the colours are not everybody's choice... but PINK for girls, BLUE for boys and GREEN just in case there really is life on mars!

:D

I don't want to upset you, but I've seen better looking sick.

Irene's is the best so far - looks pretty good with a different hue and aliased 32x32.

IMO your's is a little 'dark' - insufficient contrast between the icon color and the "P", for either color scheme.

Just one person's opinion though.

cheers (and it looks like a great project)

(not sure how transparency will show in browsers - especially ie)

edit: image has changed, as phpbb doesnt like query strings after images, so viewcvs uses the latest revision

I don't think there should be text in the icon. It's sort of defeats the purpose.

lexvictory: Much better, but I agree with Trond about the text. I didn't mean yours when I said "I've seen better looking sick", I meant the icon by "dontmailme"! :)
