A good example is a major news story, all the news networks will report the story but no two will be reported the same way or provide the same "truths".
good explanation, good example. thank you *bow*
filtering applies everywhere information is transported.
let's have an example.
Student A and Student B are studying Phisics in the lessons of Professor A.
Professor A is teaching what he finds in books he agrees to,
based on what he was tought by his Professor.
his filters were establisht during his youth and study,
are supplied constantly by what he calls his opinion,
and so directly affect what and how he teaches.
If Professor B invents something new on the Topic,
Professor A may just dislike it because he dislikes Professor B,
because he was educated in another tradition than Professor B,
or whatever.
but this may lead to the case, that the invention of Professor B
is never tought to the Students by Professor A.
Additionally, the things Student A and Student B learn are directly influenced by
their filters.
they also have a different personal history, so they percieve the same facts in a different way.
so, they both learn a different kind of Phisics.
Imagine a Student C learning from Professor B, he will learn something completely different
because he learns about the new invention the Students A and B will not be informed about.
so, we have threee persons, Students A, B and C, who studied Physics at the same time,
but who have different pictures what it is at all.
only when these three sit together, talking to each other and learning from each other,
they have a chance to alter their filters by watching the filters of the others.
oh... and have a nice day.
