True, but it's not only the OS itself, the Ubuntu Community is very bad:

1) Not newbie friendly _AT ALL_. Most people pretend to be ingenius, and think they know everything, while everything they are saying is "Google is your friend".
2) I got bashed off there for NO reason. I registered a new user at the Ubuntu Community and asked why Ubuntu has no alsaconf, and they replied to me with "zis no gentoo. u using ubuntu n it has no alsaconf".
3) Full of morons and spammers. Take the above alsaconf thing as an example, the reply was not helpful, the grammar sucked, and the poster ignorantly said "This is not Gentoo"
4) Admins co-operate with the morons and spammers. Let's take KiwiNZ as an example, he spams the forum and he has got many complaints, but still the forum admin constantly backs him up. KiwiNZ has banned me 2 times already, and when I asked him for reasons, he said questioning forum admins is disrespecting the forum and banned me again.. What a wonderful place!

I mostly know about the German Ubuntuusers.de community and so far it seems very nice and helpful, not as good as the PureBasic community but hey that would realy be too much, on the forums Off Topic section there is also a slight tendency to let's call it "bordedom threads" with themes like "Do you watch porn?" or "Where are the girls in here" or "Who of you plays poker" or even "My cat pisses in front of my door, what shell I do?" but than again that's Germany and there is nothing wong with talking about stuff like that.

I personally like Linuxforen.de and the Gentoo forums, because both are nice and don't have morons and spammers..

I can Finnish, Swedish, German, English and Arabic. A bit of Japanese too and currently learning Korean. I love to learn more languages, because then it feels like I get mystical powers

However, not many students choose to learn German. In the group where I study German there are only 12 students, 4 guys and 8 gals

There was a local inquiry about if you wanted to be a programmer and start earning money and the requirements was that you atleast know Finnish, English and German. Too bad that my application wasn't approved

I would say that the best Linux distribution largely depends on what you need or want, where you want to go with it.

I'm sure each distribution has it's pluses and minuses.

There's a lot of stuff in Vista like the the explorer, IE, media player, the photo gallery,
the calendar, windows mail, movie maker, the firewall, windows defender, the fax app etc, that
isn't listed in add/remove programs and that has nothing to do with an operating system.

These are MS apps, and they use the OS to fight off and kill competition, and this is not
fair to anyone. So it kind of sucks, in this departement at least.

Just look at the way they try and tell users which folders to use on their own hd's..
it's ok with the Windows folder, but for the rest of it, I should decide how to organise my disk, not
a stupid company.

Maybe not, the US Department of Justice tried to nail them for integrating Internet Explorer into Windows and lost.

Pretty much says Microsoft can do whatever they want with it and get away with it.

I don't have a problem with add-ons placed by microsoft.
Even though microsoft integrated some add-ons to OS, users has still a choice on what software to use.
Like I don't use IE because I have FireFox.

I also don't use Win Media Player but the classic media player of K-lite.
etc.
The only problem for me is when microsoft release new OS and the need to adapt to new changes and make programs compatible to it.

If only those opensource projects like Linux will unite to create a one stable and user friendly platform instead of creating many many variants... :roll:

Why would I want to do that?

The first thing I do when I install XP is set the theme and colors to Windows Classic, then disable the theme service.

And when I upgrade to Vista, the First thing I'll do is set the theme and colors to Windows Classic, then disable both Aero and the theme service.

I don't need or want all useless eye candy. IMHO the only legitimate place eye candy has is in games.
