Hmm well as said before we would be glad to host a PB Podcast for free, the good thing about a podcast rather than live radio in any form is, that everybody can listen to it whenever they want. I don't think live radio wuld work with all of us scattered around the globe. There is only one thing I would like if hosting the Podcast, we should have them both in mp3 and an open format like ogg.

Maybe but it seems only very few peopöle here are talking about podcasts

Yes it would be, but it's a disadvantage for me!
When I say I'll do a PureCast once a month, then I'm talking about a release date. So it's up to me to record it and cut it down whenever I want. Also I can agree upon interviews with the famous ppl like the PB team when THEY have time! I can get up @ night and do a skype-session and record it or things like that (e.g. time-shift between Austria <-> Australia).
Then cut it down and load it up on release date.

Sounds much easier then doing a live-readio-stream with live-recording and uploading afterwards, doesn't it?

BTW: I would not plan to have music. I'd like to keep is small and simple. Casts with news and some kinda main topic. Length between 10 - 20 minutes.
It should be information based.
In my case - I do not like music in podcasts, since ppl hardly meet my taste.

You should think about only using ogg vorbis due to mp3 licensing and patent stuff.

1) My MP3 Player doesn't support OGG (main reason)
2) I'm pro Free Software but don't completely negotiate it. Hasn't it been you, who said to me, that RMS and ESR are _too_ extreme.

Yep, that was me.

But this is about a real danger concerning the many patents of the MP3 format and incredible licence fees...

not to be contradictive, but GET ANOTHER MEDIA PLAYER

Then release it in wma. Ogg is only supported by a few mp3 players.

Name ONE popular thing that does play wma. People using windows media player for music suck anyway..

Sorry I won't host wma, no Microsoft support on my Server, what's about flac, it genious for speech.

Every MP3-player the last 5 years and every media player for PC...

Ok, I'll write a note to Steve Jobs!

In the meantime I diceded to release it as *.mp3 - I do not see any good reason at the momen to use any other fileformat.
If there will ever be a second format, I will become OGG. Maybe I'm gonna install rockBox on the iPod.

If you are doing it as "free" and not-for profit, there are NOT any licensing fees for using the MP3 format for podcasts, sermons, radio shows, lectures, etc.

If you are a business or are selling something from your site, then licensing fees could apply for the format. But with over a dozen different companies claiming to own the patent on the MP3 format, it is usually only enforced against major companies.

Other formats are a joke. Most MP3 players only support MP3s. Most people don't have the time to waste converting other compressed formats to the MP3 format. I have seven MP3 players, none of them support OGG, only two support WMA.
