AVIRA's AntiVir doesn't like PB

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

 Yeah, right. My antivirus software has stopped my system getting infected
MANY times, both from viruses in web pages and apps I've downloaded. But if
you think those infections are just figments of my imagination, then so be it.
Yes, its possible.

But its also VERY posible that you get infected with virus or trojans that the AV don't detect or that was detected last week and changed in the middle, so ATM AV don't detect it anymore.

THATS why i said its an ilussion to feel protected.

ANY smart virus or trojan developer will update his stuff to avoid detection.

You may have better to stop visiting those risky webpages :P

And thats why its MUST to have an AV. They have heuristic scanning to detect future/unknown types of viruses.

And also, a good firewall to know which program creates server, connect to a port.

Viruses are mostly get from email attachments.

Possible, but unlikely. How do I know? Because whenever I do a full system
scan it never discovers any viruses that were "secretly" planted weeks ago.

You never know which pages will have viruses. I've had trojans and other
keyloggers try to install themselves from the most "clean looking" sites, such
as freeware game sites and so on. What sites did you think I meant?
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Here you have some logic failure.

If some AV don't detect the virus when infect, it logic that the AV will not find it with a full scan!

AV is a religion, like FireFox. Hard to discuss with believers

---------------------------------

Okay, i understand all that you said, but personally i don't like AV and never get infected.

The only time i get infected (my PC not my body... im not talking about condoms he he) i just restore the system and forget about the problem.

True, but I wasn't talking about that. I said "it never discovers any viruses
that were 'secretly' planted" meaning because none were planted. You've
misunderstood the context of my post.

System Restore doesn't protect all your data though... so if a virus deletes all
your JPGs and so on, a System Restore won't do anything to undelete them.
But I guess you love living dangerously! :)

Maybe your last option would be use DeepFreeze or Norton GoBack.

Clean install XP and your applications
Install any of these. DeepFreeze or Norton GoBack.

If you notice something bad then just roll back your system.

Its commonly used in cafe here. ;)
