Can't download this? Missing file? Been removed?

FWIW, this hasn't worked with current versions of PB for a long time. IIRC, the source was never released for the lib so it can't be updated.
I do have this sitting on my hard drive, but obviously do not have permission to redistribute it if the author has taken his site down.

I didn't even notice the dates. My profile is set to show new posts with every
visit and this thread was active, so I thought it was a new topic. And yes, it
shows why closed-source libs can be a dangerous thing to rely on, and why
I won't use them. I wish there were some way to future-proof them.
As to why the lib isn't available..

Have any of you bothered to read netmaestro's post in this thread?
I don't have any connection to the internet at all since we moved to the farm. I get to the library or an internet cafe usually once a day for a half-hour or so and that's it. I could have signed up for a dialup account but that would have meant getting a landline phone which we haven't had for three years now. A communications company in our area is rolling out a rural broadband service via wireless hotpoints that will service our place and we're scheduled for an installation on the 15th of November, so I should have everything back up and running by then.

That post was from a couple of days ago. The lib hasn't worked with PB in almost a year and wasn't being updated even when he had internet access.
This lib was the final straw for me, and why I now, like PB, will no longer use userlibs.

No, it was from today. The 11th of Nov 2007.
Regardless, I wonder if there's any way to "convert" old libs to be current,
without the source? Has anyone ever tried to reverse-engineer them, or
anything like that? There must be something that can be done for truly
abandoned libs.

Gotta remember your clock/day isn't the same as everybody else. What day/time you see, isn't what I see. Net's post is tagged as:

Yesterday for me

It would solve a lot of problems if one could.
In theory closed source libs are fine as long as the developer would release the source if s/he ever decided to drop support for it or quit upgrading/maintaining it. But not everybody is comfortable doing it and nobody should be forced to do something with their code if they aren't comfortable with it.
The best practice, and learned the hard way, seems to be to avoid userlibs entirely.
In the Blitz community, people created third-party solutions like shadow systems, sprite systems, etc and sold/licensed the code for those with no problems. I am not sure why people here in PB land avoid licensing source and prefer to only license libs?

I thought phpBB automatically converted the timezone as appropriate,
but obviously it doesn't. Oh well.
