I'm just off to bed now as it's nearly 6am here, but most of those ideas sound excellent and I'll make them a priority for tomorrow's session. Thanks ever so much.

I second
mskuma's suggestion :
Esc to close is really a must. I inserted it into the buld (960) I'm currently trying, and I find that it adds a good measure of comfort to the whole operation.
Default path:
You still haven't modified that.
Simply delayed ? Ovesight? Not in the plans ?
I'm temporarily using the "About box" link to surf over to this thread. Works great.

Correction required
Right-click operation:
(What I call the "remote mode"...)
The saved image includes the dashed outline. I don't think that's a feature.

I have some issues fixed:
- The initial folder is pulled from the registry key as suggested
- Menu item is renamed "QuickSnap Preferences"
- Visual confirmation of keyboard save success is added
- Dotted line is removed from saved image resulting from keyboard save
- Escape key is mapped to quit request
- About Box hyperlink mapped to this thread (good idea!)
Still working on the other suggestions, none are forgotten!
Current version is Build 0.965

Go back to bed.
Obviously, sleeping from time to time agrees with you.
Just don't overdo it.

Testing Build 0.965
----------------------------------------
Strange behaviour
Something very strange happens in the course of saving while using the right-click operation:
When requesting that the picture be saved (spacebar press), the highlighted portions flickers a number of times, then disappears from view after flashing a few times on the screen.
----------------------------------------
That problem did not esist in build 960.
And it ain't there with the regular selection window.
So, i'm inclined to believe that the remedies to remove the dashed outline introduced this bug.
(it's in that new For...Next Loop of Procedure SaveScreenShot() )

That's the visual signal that the file is saved. Perhaps it's not intuitive enough and should be replaced with something else? ideas?

Visual feedback for rightclick-keyboard save is too stupid. Replaced with flashing savedisk, same as in framed mode. Much better imho.
Current build is now 0.967

OK. I get it now.
No, I don't think it's very good as a visual signal.
When I tested it, it made it seem as if something had gone wrong with the operation.
Sorry. I really did jump to the wrong conclusion on this one.
How about flashing something more discreet (at least more contained) in the bar at the bottom of the desktop (I can't remember what it's called) (Desktop Bar?) (Joe's Bar and Tavern ?) ???

Yes, yes, yes... That is much better.
It's now very clear that the app completed its work, and did it flawlessly.
Now, if you could just re-display the selection area, as happens in the left-click mode. Currrently, we are left looking at a dimmed screen, and just waiting for something to happen.

Sorry - that show-window-contents-while-dragging bit me again. Fixed.

I guess there are major gaps in my forum education...
iirc ?
Keep answering with an alphabet soup, and this thread can keep us busy a very long time.
BTW (see, I know some) : I guess, on your machine (uh! sorry! Workstation.) the option to "show the contents of Windows when moving" is turned ON.
Try this latest build with the option OFF, and let me know what you think of the result after saving a snapshot in the remote-mode.
