This seems the RapidQ case.
Realbasic bought the sources and the RQ author became a simple employee.
(very much money, I suppose)

… But all this happened in the USA, not in old Europe.

Someone on IRC was your "credible source"? Who takes IRC seriously? IRC is
an anonymous medium where anyone can impersonate anyone and say anything.

> Sorry for the false alarm

I should think so! :)

If it is false or we are not 100% sure then we must stop posting unverified information.
Does Fred need our permission even to get married???

Having a date need another permission from us???

Yes, exactly, he needs our permission. We are the only ones Fred should love, we are his costumers. :P

Starting rumors like this causes damage to the reputation of the business in question, causes lost revenue of sales and causes a business to lose existing customers. Whether Fred wishes to pursue a legal case for libel, is his choice. But, at the very least, and out of fairness to the community, Kale's forum account should be removed, and his user account should be removed so that he no longer has access to Pure Basic itself.

He has purchased a license with free lifetime access. Blocking him would surely not be good for PureBasic's reputation.

He has purchased a license with free lifetime access.
His actions have violated any legal obligation that Fred may have to him.

Has he violated the PureBasic license? No.

Let me guess thrice: You're from the USA? (I didn't have to guess that.)

I hope this is a joke. Although starting rumors like this are not good in general I think it is also a logical 'side effect' of the open forums PureBasic has. These forums are part of the success of PureBasic anyway.
On top of it: Kale wrote a great book that will help PureBasic even further. Kale is a bit undiplomatic and impulsive sometimes I guess.
But, I like him for that.

And yes, I am a customer too! (also owner of a copy of Kale's book)

I like Kale too, but I don't necessary like him starting this post. After years of seeing numerous threads like this in various communities, it gets irritating. I would have said the same thing no matter who made the post.

It is different with IBasic where the dirty laundry is out in public and the actions of the developer speak for themselves. But Fred is one of the most active and supportive developers out there right now. I think Fred has always been VERY fair and honest with his users. With Fred, we do not have to stoop to innuendo and falsehoods to find out the truth.
