Anyone want to help make a 'PureMessenger'?

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

That's cool, I think I can modify it to add the 'unload skin' feature...

and does anyone know how to set up mediawiki on the sf.net hosting thingy?

You guys sure have lots of spare time in your hands... why wasting it on something like this?. Go get a girlfriend, have fun... Don't waste your time on crap thats already been done...

This' starting to look and feel like "blitzcoder"... I'm out.
Have fun with your bloat though.

Ah, girlfriends bugger off to Turkey for two weeks without you, which leaves plenty of time for coding...

...I say plenty of time for coding, it's more like 50% of the time for coding and the other 50% of the time is spent thinking up of un-geeky excuses to tell said girlfriend how you spent all your time while she was away!
~I see one problem with your reasoning: the fact is thats not a chicken~

Well, its pretty simple, for the fun, just to pass the time, have a bit of fun, and help some n00d down the line perhaps in a few years. But really? I have a girlfriend, but i cant spend EVERY evening with her can I?

ok, is there anyone here who DOES want to get this project off the ground?

ive started to do some stuff on the msn protocol, but because of its complexity, i need help....

any help is welcome, but i mainly want to start focusing on the UI and msn & jabber/xmpp/gtalk protocols

if u DO want to help, send an email to lex@demonioardente.us.to and/OR add that same address on msn OR, if u use icq, add 234648902 OR if u use google talk/jabber, add demonioardente@gmail.com

if there is anyone who wants to help with translations, it would be good to have u involved from the start (i saw a topic earlier of a couple of people who were offering translations....)

sorry if this post seems angry, im not really... :D

I'd be willing to participate in a project that DIDN'T support MSN. Well let me rephrase a messenger that was basicaly peer-to-peer. What I mean by this is creating a messenger service that wouldn't neeed a centralized server. To make it clearer I don't oppose it being able to connect to MSN, ICQ or whatever, but the main protocol should be that it is able to connect to users of the "messenger" without the need of a centralized provider. LET'S HAVE AN OPEN MESSENGER!!

This seems an interesting project to me and I'd be more than willing to participate in it.

Then half of the user needs to forward the ports needed (NAT), and thats impossible for users using the chat program on work f.exp.

i think that would only be possible for a lan chat.......

and also, the whole point of this is to become something like gaim - but MUCH MUCH better :D

i.e having protocols supported by plugins

We could try to make it ourselves, but i think it really would be hard for only 2 people :? .
