I don't think that you should call "Linux" "GNU/Linux".
If you would do this you had to call it like "GNU/Apache/Qt/GTK/.../Linux".

Not sure it thats true. You can run Linux without Apache or QT or Gtk or the rest.
Is it possibe to run Linux without any of the GNU tools?

I. Have. A. Wireless. Networking. Card. With. A. Supported. Chipset.
Try another card if possible.
I am looking forward to Ubuntu's Dapper Drake + xgl in June. I have had a very positive Ubuntu Experience (Breezy) after having tried many distros in the past.

I had the same problem with a PCMCIA card and Breezy. Bought two other different cards off ebay (supported by Breezy), and they didn't work either. I have also noticed certain motherboards have issues as well, such as Biostar.
So just because Ubuntu says the card/hardware is supported, it may not always work.
BTW - Ubuntu Rocks!

Don'think linux is possible without gnu tool. For example gcc (Gnu C Compiler or if written in capital letters Gnu Compiler Collection) is used to compile the Linux Kernel. Most commandline tools are gnu too, and because gcc is part of gnu even Mac OS X and most BSD Systems have gnu under the hood. So no I don't think Linux is possible without gnu, it's possible and on servers the standard to use Linux without qt, gtk, GNOME though.

Tools is one thing. OS is another:
"Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is more often known as 'Linux', and many users are not aware of the extent of its connection with the GNU Project."
Via the original link (above):
http://www.gnu.org/gnu/linux-and-gnu.html
"The GNU system is the Unix-like operating system, which is entirely free software, that we in the GNU Project have developed since 1984."

That's not amusing.
I've got a friend in India who is student. He has only about $6 per month to spend.
But: He didn't know what Linux is...

Sorry, didn't want to insult them. It's just that it seems as if India is very IT centraled and focused on microsoft, however I think if they realy focus so much on Microsoft they will just become like cheap coding slaves. Instead they should focus on their own developments using less capitalist software easiy to afford in a legal way.

Maybe they use Mic~osoft products so much because many people hired there are from India (I read somewhere that the indians are the best in software development)
