EDIT: Sadly i can see approaching a day in which Fantaisie soft will sell PB to another bigger company. Well, i see that day could be the beginning of the decadence of PB.

Come on Fred, if Mr. Gates waded in with a £0000000's bid for Purebasic, you'd at least think about it!

Personally, I'd tell him to shove his billions up his arse! Of course, he'd have to crap out the rest of the .net framework first in order to make room!

Sell up, and I'll just have to write a Purebasic compatible compiler myself. That'll keep me busy for about 25 years or so!
Any advance orders anyone?

fred will sell purebasic to billyboy, then go on to write the ultimate wow killer, that will of course be free to his former purebasic customers...

THe problem is that 3.94 was far from bug free.

Care to extrapolate on that? I am a 3.94 user who has no intentions of upgrading and would be curious to know of any bugs that I should be aware of.

Shareware software companies with one product and no upgrade fee's have no future at all. Simple as that!

Just think about it. Look for the 'donate' button. Means something is terribly wrong.

Would you buy a Pick-up truck from a Chevy dealership if they had a tin-can saying 'donate to Chevy' on
the desk in front of you?

Hehh, they can help themselves if they want to, I have other things to spend my money on. My oldest cat
just cost me some 600 Euros for example.

Why not upgrade White Eagle? If you don't mind me asking.

Two main reasons:

1. 3.94 is cross-platform, 4.0 isn't. It is nice to be able to write code and then load it in the Linux version with no changes necessary and compile it for Linux.

2. The ONLY new feature in 4.0 that interests me is using OpenGL for "2D in 3D" stuff. Unfortunately, the OpenGL side is buggy.

For now, I am sticking with what works for my needs.

Perhaps they should put a tin-can on their desks for donations? They need all the financial help they can get right now. Last report I saw, even Harley Davidson had a larger networth than General Motors.

I want pb4 to be crossplatform for the udp support mainly.

And opengl sprite3d would be nice if it worked... and the 3d engine... and.... Pretty much I just would like it if the featuresets of all the pb OSes were equivalent.

But as far as bugs go. Search and ye shall find. They are in the bug reports forums and were never fixed until pb4. Those fixes would need to be rolled back into 3.94.

I edited out the comments about Aurora as I just noticed that within the past couple of days that they jacked the price up

Now it is too steep for my budget at this time. Things should be better $$ wise in February, so I will try and buy it then.

Aurora does look interesting and I do keep an eye on it's development. However, within my fields of interest, Aurora doesn't offer anything which I can't get from Purebasic (at least at present) and Purebasic's syntax is right up my street.

Very much a wait and see where Aurora is concerned and I remain to be convinced. Besides, I can't help but wonder what the hell is going on with iBasic (for those who do not know, the creator of Aurora created, and sold, iBasic, which is now in a pretty sorry state in terms of any future it might have). Will Aurora follow suit in a couple of years? No offence to Paul who is a thoroughly decent chappie, but I'd have to know that the product has got a future before I invest.

I ended up investing $250 back in January, banking on Aurora. Hopefully something will become of it soon

Also, the price was raised from $40 (when I bought a copy in Jan 2006) to 49.95, almost $10 higher then when it was first released.

too me that is what a language should be and i know it will go from strength to strength
its good for newcomer, novice and expert and thats where Fred will win every time
