Now that this thread is useless and OT anyway, I'm curious:
Fangbeast wrote: The first computer was actually invented in England with the help of ideas from German and French scientists.
What computer was that? I always thought the first computer was invented and
built by Konrad Zuse?
Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.

And what about Charles Babbage's mechanical analytical engine (1837 !) ?

For logical and calculating machines, check out the early Romans. They invented and used (but mostly for things like special effects theatre and scamming the masses in temples) steam engines, mechanical process control, etc.

That's why I asked, I don't know what's considered to be the first (real) computer.

Good question.

The abacus, as a calculator? The Inca knotted cords (storage device) or their date-calculator based on two gears (I think it was them)?

If Purebasic itself uses English as it's language to base all commands on, you do realise that 'color' is actually spelt 'colour'?
In English, "color" is the correct spelling and "realize" is the correct spelling. English, like most languages that are routinely spoken advance and change. Unfortunately, you have countries like the UK that have a fear of change and largely base their "version" of English on a dialect from the late 1700s through early 1800s. Although this is "cute" in a historical sense, in the real world it has no practicality. It could be worse, the British could still be speaking Old English and saying thinks like "Trueth" instead of "Truth".

I enjoy seeing and reading the British spellings in old classic literature. However we are now in the 21st century. It would be nice if the British could at least catch up to the 20th century when it comes to their use of the English language.

Actually, would it be more accurate to say that in [country] this is the correct spelling of [word] - as seen in [country] dictionary?

Aside: Color -v- colour (-v- KLEUR :)) is fun to debate but (hopefully) not a topic to take seriously.

On that note, if "colour" is "color", why is "Our" not "Or" and "Tour" not "Tor".

And what about "English" pronounciations? (Prononciations?:)). Think of the "*ough" words:

It was tough going through the trough, though. :)

Say it in English (UK), English (US) and English (Aus).

Colour is correct in Canada also.

Maybe we should have a country-by-country vote... each country gets one vote....

I really hate the phrasing of that, it makes out that the UK is some sort of Xenophobic, conservative, inflexible place. Which it's not.

I think you'll find that America intentionally went through and altered the spellings of some words in order to distinguish it's self from Britian. 'Color' is not a natural progression of the CORRECT 'colour' it was completely artificial.
