If you by now don't know how to install beta 8, then you really shouldn't be using it!

Your funny! lol.
Its easy to create %Program Files%\PureBasic, though the path entries and such needed for an installation is another story ..
The most simple way is to do a fresh PB 3.94 install (so the appropriate registrations are done via setup), then overwrite the files with the PB4 Beta 8.
Please think about that for a moment

Hi Shannara,
I must be a complete reject, because when I first tried the Beta, I would get an error message on startup (can't remember exactly, but something about an assembly error). It wasn't until I created a blank folder and extracted the zipped beta files into it, that it worked for me.
I must have the strangest WinXP setup ever?
Regards,
Amundo

Actually, this is not true. The Betas must go into a fresh folder of their own.
Fred has already stated this elsewhere.

I always make a new directory, the copy my old prefs file, my residents, libs and help files (from user contributions) into the new directory, start it up and no problems.
When I used to start the new pb first, shut it down, then copy the old prefs and residents into it, that's when I had problems. Compiler crashes everywhere, Assembly errors. Now I don't.
@Amundo, as PB said, Fred told everybody that ALL beta installs have to go into a fresh directory but not everybody read that. Windows XP is strange (No argument there) but it has nothing to do with the assembly errors. It's a. Not following Fred's advice and b. Doing silly things like I did.

Each beta must go in a new empty install folder...best way is like Fangles (FangBeast) explained.

Yes, I wish I had read Fred's advice beforehand, it would have saved a bit of mucking around. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any references to it when I searched for the error I was getting...
Oh well, guess I need to read all the relevant stuff before diving in; as they always say - RTFM/R!
