Yes, absolutely.
From the very first day digital recorders were affordable ( ADAT, DA-88 )
I loved the easy way of editing and also the "clean sound", like we could
finally hear what we were recording. Of course, I do as much as I can in
the digital domain - just wanted to explain what I meant by "depends on
the sound you're after". So yes, we're both "right" :)

yes i am a NEWBIE!

If you would please remember that i haven't made music more than some months; what do you think?

http://thefool.bradan.net/thefool%20-%20m.mp3

the points i lack:
-Putting the music from my head to my computer
-mixing
-mastering

practically everything :p

(Thanks to traumatic for learning me about frequenzy ranges and instruments.. Sadly i haven't "implemented" that in this mix, its done afterwards mostly.)

Very nice album, Kukulkan!

Very nice album, Kukulkan!
mmm to be Honest, very interesting BUT (there is allways 'a butt' [note the double t :D ]).

Oke here goes:
Starts off nice (rythmic), picks up pace, then 1:12 bang you kill the number... silence .. 1:16 pick up in a 'trance mode' now it sounds like a very familiar number from that dutch guy Arnold van Buren...
02:14 it dies again (stupid) them the finale what finale it just dies blub meoiiue kill and some 'residual notes' (very bad).

So on the whole it has potential but you have to work on it. Better is it NOT to 'die' the break but start a 'soft rythem' directly (max 2 sec silence, not 4) so people knows the number is NOT over otherwise the dancing stops (and we do NOT want that). Or keep the base drum running (it is done digital so why not? No sweat is pored.)

Second part needs some work, some more instruments...Pick a choice...

Keep up you have potential in the trance... But have a long way to go before you match Kukalkan (sorry the Fool).

Btw. better to pick your own posting or otherwise people start to 'dump' :D there music here and Kukalkan does not want that I think...

Oh and getting the music OUT of your head is the hardest part belief me I know i have tried.

Hi!
First a notice about the "Arnold van Buren" number; never heard of him nor his music, i think its a coincidence. I played it at my midi keyboard (i got myself one of those.. and a midi mixer with some buttons, knobs and sliders to help me mixing and creating..), and thought it sounded cool :)

About the ending i know its bad i haven't done that part yet :P Intro's, fase-shifts and endings are something i really need to work at :)
But have a long way to go before you match Kukalkan (sorry the Fool)
You don't have to say sorry i know that already :)

About having my own post; i didn't want to put up something people wouldn't like. Better keep the number of readers a bit down :P

Thanks for the suggestions, i will have a look :)
This is one of the other major things. Shifting between intro's and the actual "melodic" part is a bit hard for me, i need to work a lot on that.

I guess there is always a butt somewhere. Otherwise, i think its rather creepy :d
Oh and getting the music OUT of your head is the hardest part belief me I know i have tried.
Yeah. I think traumatic also mentioned this :)
A wise man (dagcrack :P ) once wrote to me that its like a graphics artist. You can imagine the greatest things in your head but without practising it will still look ugly when getting it on the paper

Keep up you have potential in the trance... .
thanks :) And i sure will keep it up.

Fool,

if you have it on midi file, you could send it in a PM to me and i can see what i could do with it and give an example of the 'over run/loop' where there is the dead part...

Being creative is the hardest thing to do, not many people can even get there ideas on 'paper' so to speak.

Hi; no midi files sadly. I can only throw you an fl file , but it would still require Vanguard from you. Dunno then :) could you, if i sent the drum samples and the start sample throw something together?

Many people can't even get the ideas :)

At Fool,

So no midi file I do not have ff or reason at the moment (work no longer there, I am private now more in the Video business).

Will try some cut and paste with your music file (i still have NG edit) and whip something up (tomorrow it is 2 am here in Holland).

@Fool,

What's in a noob? What is: "but it would still require Vanguard from you. " in your previous post? A sort of nda? Meaning i will not bring it out as MY music? Never it is yours and stays yours.

Oh NG edit is a music/sound editor, works very accurate (for me) and is cheap (around 40 euro). Yes I know there are freeware programs be they lack some functions or are a 'drag' to operate. NG edit works without me ever looking in the manual (excelent).

Try the cut and past in a moment, back from work (at home).

Will post the result in a PM to you, so (not to take over Kulkans post.

A noob is a newbie. A very beginner :)

Vanguard is a VST plugin i used. What i meant was; that if you had Fl, you would still need vanguard to be able to play the file.

@Fool,

Sorry I know what a noob is :D 8) i was wondering about Vanguard i mistook it voor an non disclosure act (nda), but a VST i oke. And beside i do not have FL (Fruity Loops).

Used good old (welll new updated) NG Wave to enhance yor music.

What have i done? at 1:15 inserted around 4 secs of your 'base loop' and wham into the next song (max 2 sec quit time after the last song). At the end of the second song i cleaned (aka deleted) the last 400ms off, gone And added a reversed last 5 seconds of your song (yes backwards no 'hidden message there).

Total edit time 4 minuts... Typing this message and discovering that an attachment is not posible on this board took me more time....

Soo see your PM for the link. Download it please and decide what you wat to do with it.... (ps: I will remove it from my site in a few days...)

A link to NG wave is here: http://www.ngwave.com/

Hi,

Back from a little business-travel I realize that my album-thread lead to an "analog/digital discussion", a "what do you think about my music thread" and a "which tools are you using thread"

Ok, if we are here, I want to point you to n-track:
http://www.n-track.com/ :!:
It is the best recording/mixing/mastering tool I have ever seen. And the price is $49 ($79 if you need 24 Bit support). Together with some good VST(i) it is really great.

I recorded a lot of music with this programm (the sparetime-album for example) and every time I like it more and more...

Allas poor Yorrick,
The latest version of n-track uses dot net, there goes a promesing program down the drain.....

Sorry for hijacking your post...
