How about (as I'm pretty new to PB and it's installer history to date) one keep PB 3.x installed for legacy issues and PB 4.x in it's own directory?

Or, is that what is to happen?

I would rather:

A. Keep 3.93 (ya, I'm still there for safety issues) for say a few months till PB 4.x "smooths out" after launch

FWIW and My2Scentz. ;-)

I think this is has already been mentioned, and I think it'd be ok.

Yes, you can install any PureBasic version into any folder and each version
will run independently of the others. Totally safe to do.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Also remember to keep two development trees as 3.94 code won't run in v4 without modification and vice versa and you could get right royally confused.

And if you install v4 when you get it and copy over your 3.94 preferences file, remember to change the source directory to your v4 dev tree so you don't make any mistakes saving v4 code over v3.94 code!!

That's one of the advantages of having a self-contained installation (everything resides in one main folder). Most Windows apps have stuff all over the place and messing with the registry, etc. Hurray to Fred for NOT following this pattern. To completely uninstall, simply delete the root folder (and maybe any shortcuts you've created). Easy!

Bravo to Fred for that. Even better, put your entire PureBasic environment on a memory stick. Want to take PB with you? Simply unplug the memory stick from your main computer and plug it into your laptop or other machine. Wonderful!
