A CD is a good idea. Bet there are lots of posts that have been lost forever. On the other hand, do we really want some of our posts saved for posterity?

Hey, I'd buy a CD of the forum... its hard to remember all the tricks and the net is not always available.

The german PureBoard-Archive is aviable as a Database-Backup with a viewer(coded by NicTheQuick). Maybe they can do the same with the english board.

Would be better to use a database backup, the bandwidth will explode if everyone does a such thing (and it will really impact the server performances).

Yes that makes the most sense to me. Then again I've got an Apache/Php/Mysql/phpBB server on my LAN. It would be easy to set up the forums by restoring from the database backup. A very valuable resource when there are Internet blackouts for whatever reason.
