Everyone? are you sure??
This is asked before, and many people voted against this.
Why force everybody to use jaPBe? No need for this.
I need a small and fast editor. I don't need all the extras.
No. My editor is just fine thanks. As well, I couldn't live without Berikco's
Visual Designer, thanks for continuing to spread, I mean, share your
VD..

LOVE IT!! its easy to use, and it fast.. sallineed
Editor, nothing against any other brands. Well, except that I have tried
other brands, but with BAD luck, I need something stable, and predictable!
The Standard PB Editor is beautiful, it doesn't sing to me, nor pleasure me,
it doesn't even do my laundry. But thats ok, that's not it's job.

jaPBe integrates well with Visual Designer, as well as the compiler and smart updater.

Just thought most people preferred jaPBe, but turns out that wasn't the case 8O
I guess everyone can just use what he or she likes.

Maybe I'll have to take another look then. Again, my problem before
was that I'd load up some code, work on it for a while, and have the
IDE blow out on me. That was quite a few months ago. Maybe things
have changed, and become more stable?

Never happened with me, except for the very first release with the integrated Backup-System. This one betrayed me and I lost at least 3-4 hours of work. I always thought a backup-system should hinder this, not proclaim it . Since then the Backups are turned off and everything works fine. I love jaPBe for four things:
- the auto completion (faster coding speed with full-sized understandable identifiers)
- the automatic generation of procedure declares (ok, I know it's dirty coding, but nonetheless comfortable)
- the folding ability (gives me a better overview on my 1024*768 display)
- and the autohide feature of the list-panel (procedure browser)
Never want to miss these features again.

Oh, never mind. It's a long time since then and propably it's already fixed. But you know "Ein gebranntes Kind ..."

Agreed. If the original poster loves japbe, then he should just use it and be
happy. I prefer the existing PureBasic editor too, and don't want someone
else trying to get it replaced.
When I say "pointless discussion", it doesn't mean that I prefer the original editor (referring to your "too", in case it addresses me). Indeed I favor jaPBe.
The pointless part is that there are only 3 possibilities
1. Leave it as it is and please X persons
2. Make jaPBe the standard and please Y persons
3. Include any editor used by anyone to PB, call it
Purebasic.NET, a 35MB download and... disgust X+Y persons. Simple arithmetics.
jaPBe is well known, often announced for a relatively long time, so I came, found and used. Life is so simple sometimes...

I think add usefull options to a tool like a programming editor to speed up the productivity isnt´t a bad idea. Codecomplete (or wathever was his name), folding the procedures block to clean the screen of code that has been tested (or wathever reason you have), automatic backup, etc, etc; are all features you can switch on or off, use or dont use.
I dislike the sentence "PUREBASIC.NET" to describe the situation because the "size" of the editor dont impact anyway in the size of the final code, and the "bloatware" is about 300Kb.

Of course not when adding jaPBe instead of the standard editor. Or including both. But what about the users of other editors? They will demand that "their" editors are included (or the standard).
And I got a wishlist full of other PB related stuff that need to be included, because I like it very much. And I think others will add to this list.
BTW, are you aware that this "movement" is trying to do what all dislike when Microsoft does it. So, leave room for improvement & competition. PB is about the compiler. Anything included else are nice gimmicks.

I would hardly say that the IDE and the VD are gimmicks! 8O A lot of hard work has gone into both and IMO they are very professional pieces of software.

Indeed they are!
All i think the pb editor need now is autocomplete. I would love that. JaPBe have that.
Anyone knows if japbe have all the pb commands as autocomplete?
